Monte Carlo Z34
My first car was a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34, it had sleek styling, leather interior, a sunroof and could comfortably sit 5 people. The car was very quick and handled extremely well as it sat very low to the ground. Not only was it a sporty car but I got excellent gas mileage. The trunk was huge which was great for throwing tons of stuff in it for camping trips or weekend get always. Living in NY I needed a vehicle that could get around in terrible weather and the Monte Carlo took it like a champ, never getting stuck or going off the road. I have nothing bad to say about the car and would take it over just about all of the vehicles I have had since then.

A great mid-size sporty coupe
I really like this car. It has been a safe, reliable daily driver for over 10 years with no major issues to report other than standard maintenance. It is very safe, handles extremely well, has a powerful engine and a distinct look. The newer generation Monte Carlos are very reminiscent of the 1980s Monte Carlo. This spacious sport coupe is great if you are looking for something with a sporty feel that can still seat five adults comfortably. The car is available with two different engines, both a relatively quick V6 and are reliable requiring little, if any work other than standard routine maintenance.

Good but some poor design
The car is beautiful. It was purchased brand new in 2002. The styling is what ultimately made me buy it. I had a used 2000 previously but it had problems with electrical. The performance was fine but gas mileage wasn't the best, although it has improved with age. There have been a few issues that required service but most were during warranty period. I don't like the design of where the rust begins at the wheel wells. I also don't like the way the snow and ice fall into the trunk when opened. There seems to be some paint issues on the drivers door which I have seen on other Monte's of similar years. A common problem that I have also noticed is the wheel bearings require replacement often. The traction control system also has some issues at times where the lights will go on for no apparent reason. The CD player didn't last very long, I think it worked property for maybe the first 5 years or so.
