We purchased our Aerostar new '95 now put 400,000 miles running on original engine/tranny. I did get things replaced as fuel injectors, valves and two head gaskets, but the Aerostar never once ran hot in the California heat. Absolutely appreciate how the van did us well. It's comfortable, everything works great, even windows goes up/down and cruise control switch still works great. Original paint emerald green forest holding up well. It has the factory steel hubcaps that came manufactured with the van.
Pros
Truck sized, comfortable seating, four-wheel drive, and reliable
Cons
Handling, acceleration and gas mileage

This is a great overall mid-size van. I want a nice looking, good performing, solid van for work or for myself, and I don't want to spend over 30K on a new car, then this van's for me. I have one in silver, which I got for 10K. Although, it could use more power since it's only six cylinder 3.0L.
Story
When I went to the tour with this car. This was my most memorable story for me because I saw more people, and I saw more new places in this tour. It was very cool for me.
Pros
Like when sand was on the road and everything was dry, going up hills from a dead stop was usually trouble. I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone! I know how to take care of cars, and I don't mind fixing things when they go.
Cons
I could always count on this car to take me to where I needed to go. Too bad Ford doesn't make this anymore. The Aerostar was their crown jewel as far as minivans go. The Windstar was terrible.

I chose this vehicle because it seated 7 and fit in my price range. It also came with a tow package that I needed for a small trailer. I love the color too, so that was a bonus. It had 91,000 miles on it already when I bought it but I've not had any major issues with it. It's at 112,000 mile now. Still going strong. I've only had to do routine and minor maintenance on it. The interior could be a bit roomier. Rear facing car seats don't fit great and it is difficult to fit a car seat in the middle. Also, having car seats in it makes it nearly impossible to access the back row. I actually need to use all the seats so its a bit of a hassle.
Story
We took it camping. There were a lot of storms so we had to drive on some muddy roads. It got around great. The back is big enough to fit a queen sized air mattress.
Pros
It's been reliable. I like the tow package and the paint color. The roof rack has been useful. I love that it has lots of plugs for charging multiple items at once. That is a huge plus when you have a lot of children with electronics.
Cons
The interior is small. Car seats don't fit well. It is difficult to access third row seating if you have more than one car seat installed in the middle. They have to go through the back and there is no way to open the back hatch from the inside.
