Overall, I would rate this car a 6/10. I actually purchased this vehicle used in 2010, but it had barely been used (only 23,000 miles). I currently have about 97,000 miles on it. I feel that it can last for much longer, but I have definitely had to repair some things. I know I have under 100,000 miles, but my car is almost 14 years old. I don't know what it cost new, but I paid $4,200 for it and it has been WELL worth the money for the price. I really like how sporty the Ford Focus ZX2 looks. I believe it's actually the last Focus that Ford produced. I never really think of myself driving in the vehicle, but when I pass another one on the road I think about how cute and feminine the car looks compared to other cars in it's class. I like the tiny spoiler in the back - it seems to add t... (more)
Story
This car has made many trips back and forth between North Carolina and South Carolina. I had been in a long-distance relationship (4 hours apart) for about 4 years, and spent many hours in my car on the interstate. I felt like I practically lived out of my car sometimes. I always had a suitcase packed in the back seat along with a blanket, pillow, etc.
Pros
This car can survive some crashes, that's for sure. I bought the car after it was practically totaled at a car shop. They repaired it... looked brand new. Several years later, I was T-boned pretty hard in a parking lot. Lots of damages to the front and side of the car. My wheel axle was also broken in two. I thought for sure that my car would have been considered totaled, but the dealership fixed it up brand new again. I feel like newer cars on the lots these days are considered total after minor wrecks often. I feel like my car can survive anything. I don't know the exact miles per gallon... (more)
Cons
Within two years of purchase, I had to change both wheel bearings (on separate occasions). I don't know much about wheel bearings, but the shop I took it too pretty much told me they were a pain to change in a Ford Focus because the entire engine had to be moved out of the way to access them. Thus, I was charged more for labor. I do not feel that I necessarily do anything while driving to wear down the wheel bearings, but I had to change an additional one around 2016. I don't know if this is a flaw in the car itself, because I have never had this problem with any other vehicle. I also had ... (more)

We have had our Ford Escort for about two years, and we are absolutely in love with it! We bought it right before we had our first child. We were a little worried how well this car would do as functioning as a family car specifically with the car being a bit tiny and a two door. The two door isn't the most functional thing for us seeing as, in our case, we have to get a car seat in and out of the back and having to reach back to buckle her in, but we make it work because we love it so much! We bought our car used with about 86,000 miles on it. It has 123,00 miles on it now, and it's still going strong! We drive over two hours everyday back and fourth to work, take our child to doctors appointments, visit family, buy groceries, go shopping, and go out to eat on those special occasions; ... (more)
Story
We drove this car on the Blue Ridge parkway to get to our wedding destination! It took five hours instead of one and a half to arrive because of the speed limit, but this car made our trip very smoothly and handled climbing the different elevations very well!
Pros
Very low maintenance. Great gas mileage. Great brakes. Great engine. Cruise control. Fast acceleration.
Cons
Bad tires. Vibrates a lot when idling. Sluggish when the A/C is on.
