My 2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition has been a good running truck. It has plenty of guts and power for merging into heavy traffic. I've experienced no mechanical issues. It is not leaking any fluids. The ride is very comfortable, with the all leather seats with the driver and passenger seats equipped power adjustment with a seat heater. There is a third row seat for those with a big family, or third row can be laid flat for hauling large loads. Power windows throughout. The heat and air conditioning have settings for the passengers in the rear, and there is plenty of legroom. The rear door lifts smoothly allowing easy entry to load and unload. The Explorer is equipped with four wheel drive, high and low, which is easily engaged using buttons on the dash. Once engaged, you have t... (more)
Story
My truck is good for carrying lots of people or lots of cargo. On those really cold days when we get a blizzard, everyone calls me for ride! Not being the spring chicken I once was, I sometimes have an achy lower back, those seat warmers do wonders to help alleviate the pain!
Pros
Best things about my truck: Reliable - starts in the coldest temps, comfortable seats and ride, heated seats for those cold mornings, very roomy. Good acceleration.
Cons
Gas mileage could be better, power window replacement parts expensive

The vehicle that I am reviewing is a 1999 Ford Explorer. This is an Eddie Bauer edition. The number one thing I like about it is the affordability. It is a popular vehicle and plenty to choose from. This is my second Explorer. I am very happy the overall quality and safety of this vehicle. The quality of manufacturing and performance are superb for the price.
Story
I live in Nebraska, and we do get snow in the winter. I have been extremely happy with the traction and four-wheel drive during ice and snow storms.
Pros
Number one pro is affordability. Being the second Explorer I have owned, I am extremely happy with everything about this make and model. It is a four-wheel drive and works great in snow and mud. Have owned for over a year and no mechanical issues - everything works just perfectly fine. This vehicle also gets very decent mileage for its size. It also has plenty of room for myself, my passengers, my two kids, and tools and luggage in the back.
Cons
There are some minor electrical issues with the stereo wiring. I do not listen to the radio myself, so it does not bother me. It also has an issue with the compass, and the outside thermometer is not working. I have read that these are "to be expected" issues with this year and model, but it is a relatively simple, easy, and affordable fix. The only other con I have is that the air condition/heat switch tends to have problems. This was an easy fix, that I had repaired myself on both Explorers that I had owned.
