The Mazda3 is a very sturdy little vehicle. It is a 12-year-old car that looks like it is only three years old. The car is in very nice condition and runs smoothly. It is small and compact, but it feels like there is a lot of room inside. There is not very much trunk space, but with a little car like this, you can't expect there to be a lot anyway. The gas mileage is decent, not good but not bad either. It handles very well, and I have not had any issues with it so far. Overall, I am very happy to have purchased this specific car.
Story
I went over a small bump in the road that I couldn't even see, and because of how little the car weighs, the bump shot me and my girlfriend up into the air. She screamed, and it felt like we had gone over a jump even though it was only a little bump.
Pros
The car has held up very well as time has gone on. Visually, it still looks like a very new car, and it is still in style. The paint has held up well in an area with a lot of sunny days and very hot summers. I have only had to replace minor cosmetic parts -- nothing major has gone wrong with the car.
Cons
The gas mileage I get on this car is only decent. There is very little trunk space as well as leg space for the people in the back seats. The air doesn't circulate very well to the people sitting in the back. Over time, the back windshield has become blurry, and I am not sure why. It is now hard to see things behind me through the back windshield.

An excellent first car purchase for someone in their early 20s. It has been extremely reliable, comfortable, and practical, all with a decent fuel economy. There are some minor issues with accessory components, but as a 10+ year old car with 100,000+ miles, it's to be expected. The best thing about this car is I've taken it on several cross-country road trips with my cat, and she's comfortable enough to sleep through the whole thing. I'd certainly consider buying another Mazda 3 when I'm car shopping next.
Story
I purchased this car one year after starting graduate school. I drove from Austin, TX, to Idaho Falls, ID, in three days, eight hours each day. I took my cat with me. It was my first big solo road trip, and it was great to see the country in my very first car.
Pros
Extremely reliable vehicle -- purchased at 75,000 miles and have added an additional 35,000 miles in five years. Other than basic maintenance, one repair has been made, though it was after storing the car for seven months. The build quality is fair. Love that there is a "fake" manual option -- upon purchase, took the car on a 24-hour road trip and had to climb many hills.
Cons
Some minor component issues. There a few electric components that are faulty -- the air conditioning is inconsistent (must turn the A/C to level i+1 for it to activate for level I), the connection for one of the headlights has burned out, and the windows don't roll up or down properly at times. The latch for the trunk was broken when purchased.
