I was amazed at how well this car holds up to the rigors of daily driving and still feel like a higher priced luxury vehicle. I've put about 10,000 miles on this car since I got it (60/40 highway/city), and it has easily surpassed all of my expectations. This car feels like a car I can keep for a long time and not have to worry about parts of it breaking down as long as I take care of it by following the maintenance schedule.
Story
I took a trip to the other end of the state (500 miles) and only had to fill up about twice for there and back.
Pros
The support and maintenance schedule are one of the top pros of this car. The dealership I bought it from (a Mazda-certified dealer) included the original warranty with the car, and because of that, it entitled me to free scheduled oil changes and maintenance checkups. Another pro is the ride quality. It feels smooth and not too rough especially when going through rough terrain.
Cons
The only cons I feel are there about the vehicle are the fact that the interior components could be better designed (I'm not much of a fan of the rigid heads up display that the car uses as the main console). Other than the design choice, it does feel a bit cramped occasionally when driving people in the backseat, but that was to be expected when I purchased the vehicle as transportation for others wasn't a primary concern of mine.

I love the car overall. It has great gas mileage; I normally can get about 35 mpg on freeways and about 26 mpg on city road. It's spacious and comfortable, easily capable of accommodating four people and their luggage on a long road trip. I've gone on multiple trips up and the down the West Coast, and it's run smoothly and without problem.
Story
I've taken many trips up and down California between the SF Bay Area and Los Angeles/San Diego. Driving down highway 1, through the winding roads and along the coast, listening to music, and hanging out with friends is always an enjoyable time.
Pros
I definitely enjoy the gas mileage as it makes me feel far less guilty about taking this vehicle on long drives. It reliably links to my phone's Bluetooth, which seems like a fairly minor thing, but having my music easily accessible and not having to fiddle with the connections do make a difference. Finally, I love the rear view camera and the park assist. Parallel parking in crowded cities has never been easier.
Cons
Some things I don't love about the Mazda3 is that the frame doesn't seem all that durable. It gains some dents super easily and obviously doesn't have the frame and structure of a high-end car. Occasionally, the acceleration can be a little jerky and not the smoothest; however, the engine is stronger than some other comparable models which I appreciate. Finally, I think the dash is supposed to be a touchscreen, but it is not very responsive and takes a fair amount of prodding to make work.
