I bought my Mazda 3 used, it was a 2009 model and I bought it in 2010. It has run great so far, and done everything I need it to. It lacks almost all amenities, such as power locks and windows, which is fine for me. It is a great little car, and I am very happy to have a car that is younger than I am. It has not had any performance problems in the entire time I've owned it, and in fact my wife prefers it to our other car because it is so fun and sporty to drive.
Story
My wife and I enjoy going out in the Mazda whenever we can, as it is so fun and zippy.
Pros
The top things for me were how low maintenance it was, how sleek and sporty it was, and how zippy it is when you really let it out. One of my favorite features about my car is that it is the base model, and thus lacks any fancy features like power locks and windows. There is something neat about being in complete control of what is going on with the car, and not being reliant upon electronic connections. This sense of control is further helped by the optional auto-manual transmission, which gives the option to change gears manually, albeit without a clutch, so it's not a true manual transm... (more)
Cons
The only negative thing I can think of is that it can be overly sensitive when it comes to emissions detection, and leaving the gas cap off. There have been about three or four instances where this has happened. I tightened the gas cap and made sure it was secure, but when the engine was started it will give an error light. So you take it in to check out the code, and sure enough, it was from the gas cap, which you know you tightened. It can get pretty annoying, since every time that light comes on you just KNOW that there is probably something really wrong.

This vehicle is a 2008 Mazda3 Hatchback. It's black, clean, and appears almost new. It has the best turning radius of any car I've ever owned -- it's super nimble. It has a powered sunroof, radio with aux connection and 6-CD changer, and a spacious interior with back sets that fold all the way down as needed. It's tiptronic, so while it's automatic you can get a manual driving experience (minus the clutch). The gas and brakes are very responsive, and it has back windshield wipers in addition to the standard front. The interior fabric has red dot detailing that makes the car look sportier and more awesome. All windows minus the front are tinted.
Story
I love when cars try to pass me because they think I am a slow little hatchback but they just can't keep up!
Pros
It's tight turning radius is absolutely amazing, especially for pulling 3 point turns on tiny city streets or for parallel parking. It's very quick, and can switch lanes smoothly and efficiently. It looks pretty badass, which is awesome when you consider that most older hatchbacks are pretty unattractive. And I love that I can switch between automatic and tiptronic if I want. The visibility out of the back windshield is great, and really helps navigating the city and parking. And you can never go wrong with a sunroof!
Cons
There are very few cons about this vehicle. The tire pressure light sometimes goes on and off on a whim. And it's gas mileage could be better compared to new cars on the market today, but for cars of it's year it's definitely at the top of its game.
