That was a police fleet vehicle that had been auctioned off to the public for some reason. The police fittings were stripped out, leaving an ugly vehicle with low miles, perfect maintenance history, and a very low price. In the three years I've owned it I've had absolutely no issues with it, mechanical or otherwise, and I have found it an exceptionally good purchase. There is no depreciation to give, it's at an age where value depends largely upon whether it runs, and it runs well. The looks don't matter to me but appear to have significantly reduced the purchase price, which is great. I haven't made a car payment in three years and I don't plan to make one for another ten or so. When it eventually dies I'll buy another car but I wouldn't sell this one for twice what I paid. It's easy ... (more)
Story
I purchased the car in winter and shortly after buying it snowed heavily. The police interceptor has an oversized engine and the first time I drove it in the snow it immediately tried to roar out of the parking lot, promptly entering a 360 spin. Fortunately there were no nearby cars.
Pros
Incredibly cheap to purchase. All depreciation already taken, value remains static.
Cons
Ugly as sin. Terrible mpg.

The car is large and comfortable. It drives well and is great for long trips. The ride is smooth and the outside noise reduction is excellent. The handling is good for the size of the car, but if you have to move quickly or stop suddenly the car will fishtail fairly easily and can take longer to stop because of the weight. I have a cloth interior which I like because its warm in the winter and doesn't burn you in the summer. The interior is also fairly easy to clean. The heater and the air conditioner are both exceptional. The instrument panel is easy to use and makes sense the way it is set up. The car is very roomy, having enough legal space for six people and the trunk size is also extremely generous. The gas mileage is only between 20-25 mpg, but with regular maintenance runs smoot... Story
Since Crown Victorias are what police officers drive sometimes when I turn into neighborhoods or apartment complexes people run away. Sometimes when I am going down the road people also mistake me for a police officer and will slam on their brakes.
Pros
The size of the car has been the best things about this car. It is comfortable enough the have six people ride in it for a long period of time. The size of the trunk is also large enough to have 6 peoples things in it, as well as the ability to move larger cargo. The heater and the air conditioner coming on instantly and are warm or cold within minutes. When I hit a deer that ran out in front of me the damage to the car was minimal (still safe to drive) and it protected me well. The car is extremely sturdy and I believe would hold up/offer protection in the event of an accident. I do a lot... (more)
Cons
The size and weight of the car cause the gas mileage to be poor. Coming in at only 22 mpg on average I have to fill up my car more often than I would like. The seat belts also have problems rolling back up and often just flop down when unbuckled. The car also fishtails easily of you have to swerve out of the way of something and if you have to stop suddenly it takes longer than I would like occasionally even with new brakes. The weight of the car also causes you to need to replace the brakes more often even when driven properly. The car is also better as a long distance car than a stop and... (more)
