I bought this used 2002 Ford Explorer Sport and am pleasantly surprised. She runs great even with 200,000 plus miles. Never gives me any trouble, pretty decent on gas for an SUV.
Story
My brother's LARGE Dodge 3500 broke down and my little Ford Explorer Sport pulled him home with ease! :)
Pros
Love the boxy shape. Rides smooth. Interior is in excellent condition for its age: to tears or stains. Nice soft gray cloth interior. Plenty of room in the cargo area to carry our nursery plants. Gets 21 mpg, which is great for an SUV. Fun to drive, nice control.
Cons
High mileage (200,000+)

I have owned my 2002 Ford Explorer Sport for nine years now. I purchased it used at a dealership in 2007. This vehicle has been the most dependable car I've ever owned. I've only had to repair two issues with it since it was purchased. Both were minor repairs and cost very little. The Explorer is very versatile, which allows me to use it in a variety of ways. I do a lot of work with rescue animals, and this vehicle is great for that purpose. The back seats will fold down completely, making the back area of the car very roomy. The back lift gate makes it very easy to load and unload anything from animals to groceries to unloading bins at the recycling facility.
Story
I was hauling a LOT of leftover yard sale items in the back of my Explorer and was stopped at a red light. A new teenage driver pulled up quickly behind me and didn't stop. He rammed the back of my vehicle with his, which was a jeep with a steel ram bar on the front. There was some damage to my lift gate, but nothing to the inside because of all the yard sale items that were stacked in the back.
Pros
Dependability, versatility, roominess, few repairs. I love the fact that the seats fold down completely to make the back of the vehicle extra roomy. Folding/unfolding the seats is done easily with just one latch handle.
Cons
Gas mileage could be better, and two doors instead of four can sometimes be a hassle. The bolts on the back lift glass tend to come loose at times and can be a pain to fix.
