2012 Ford Transit Connect - Good little truck car.
I like the transit connect. It allows me to haul lots of supplies to my buildings and facilities. I do not like the cage in the back as it only allows so much room for legs. Otherwise it is a tough little vehicle that gets decent gas mileage, and gets around in the snow rather well. This allows me to be confident in getting around town, regardless of conditions.
Story
There was 2 ft of snow on the ground, and the little transit handled all the weather very well. It took me 2 hours to dig it out, but once out, worked great.
Pros
Best thing about this vehicle is the cargo space.
Cons
The cage in the back is set too close to the operator, only allowing little or no room for legs.
2012 Ford Transit Connect - Feels like it will run forever
I've owned 15+ cars in my life, most were German or Japanese, but this was my first Ford. At first I was apprehensive, but in truth the little truck is solid, drives as well as a passenger car, and has had no mechanical issues to date. I feel 100% certain that it will start every time, and will never break down and leave me stranded.
Story
It's not exactly what you call a fun vehicle, but this one time I drove to San Francisco from Los Angeles to pick up a Vespa scooter. It fit perfectly in the cargo area, with the front wheel wedged between the front seat. As soon as it was loaded, I turned around and drove back. 800 miles in one day. Sure my back and bottom were sore the next day, but it got the job done.
Pros
One of the nice features this van has is a low leading deck, much lower than an Econoline van. For it's small size and compact footprint, it really hauls a good amount of goods. I also like that it's tall inside and you can nearly stand up. Another great feature is that it has sliding cargo doors on both sides, not just the curb side, makes it much easier to load.
Cons
Paint is incredibly thin and easy to scratch. You could put a scratch in it with your fingernail, or a zipper on your jacket.
Seats are comfortable for short trips not much longer than an hour, but I think they're not really designed well for long trips.
