My 2002 Pathfinder is a family vehicle that became a work horse of sorts. Purchased used in 2005 as a family vehicle due to having our first child, this vehicle started out as our everything and everywhere ride. It has plenty of room for a car seat (or two or three!). The rear compartment is very spacious and has held everything from loads of family Christmas presents, groceries, large toys, to two yards of mulch and bags of cement. The car also comes with brackets on the roof and has carried several live Christmas trees from the store to home. As far as quality, after many years of daily driving, the body is showing some signs of wear, but at almost 200k miles, it has held up remarkably! IÕve only had to perform routine maintenance for the most part. The most significant mechanical is... (more)
Story
One time a local friend of mine had some extra mulch left over from yard work and said I could have it. I put the fitted tarp in the back of my vehicle and drove 15 minutes to his house. I loaded up everything and brought it home, saving myself roughly $150. The best part was the tarp kept my trunk completely clean.
Pros
Reliability: this vehicle is a few thousand miles short of 200k miles, and I see no trouble surpassing that milestone. Technology: though it is quite dated in comparison to todayÕs offerings, it came with a cassette deck and six-CD disc changer, which suits me fine. Styling: grey cloth interior combined with black trim and dashboard still looks great. Room: so much room for a growing or large family to go camping, shopping, on a road trip vacation, etc. As well as room for work related home Improvement or yard projects. The backs seats even fold down for more space.
Cons
Gas mileage. I work from home and typically only use this vehicle now to take my kids to school and sports events (sharing this duty with my wife and her vehicle). IÕm spending about $150 a month in gas and not coming anywhere close to driving 12k miles annually. Oxygen Sensors, while not very costly to replace, I have had to replace these about half a dozen times over the years. Eventually I started ignoring the warning messages for this. Stereo, while I loved having a six-CD changer in my vehicle, about six years into ownership, one of the discs got stuck, and I was told the only way to ... (more)

The Nissan Pathfinder that I have driven for the last 5 years is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. The truck has a lot of space which makes it great for moving people as well as materials for fix up jobs around the house. On top of that the sturdy frame of the truck makes it very easy to haul heavy weight items. The four wheel drive system is one of the best I have used. The last 2 winters in the Northeast have been terrible but this truck handled them with no problem. While you won't mistake the ride of the truck for a luxury car it is a very comfortable experience. Overall the truck has not had major repairs other then regular maintenance. However, the parts for the truck can be very expensive even if the repair itself is not major. Another thing that is a negative is that ... (more)
Story
I used this truck to go on a trip to a major fair further north from where I lived. It was really nice just getting the truck out on the highway and driving deeper into the country. It wound up being a really nice day at the fair and the drive back was really relaxing.
Pros
The top positive for this vehicle was the excellent four wheel drive system. It gives the truck a stability and feeling of safety that makes it a joy to drive in bad weather. The cargo space is another top positive as it allows me to really load up materials that I need for working on the house. It's a real plus to have the ability to pick up cement, pellets, gravel or anything else in large quantities.
Cons
The body has started rusting and going fast. It started very small then really started to spread quickly. Also, the repairs on the truck are very expensive even if they are maintenance repairs. The steering is also a little flighty but it is a truck.
