I bought my F-150 used at 70,000 miles. It was taken care of nicely by the previous owner. The ABS system started giving us a couple problems right after we bought it but it's just a sensor. The steering and driving is perfect. Torque is great. Roomy cab, nice for long rides. I can fit all of my music gear is the XL bed, i.e. 2 cabs, 2 guitars, PA system, and suitcases. Very convenient. Basic interior, nothing flashy, which is expected. Big gas tank. No complaints about the truck at all.
Story
Taking my new dog to the dog beach for the first time and having to ride with her in the bed of the truck on the way home in order to dry off quickly.
Pros
The size of the bed is extremely convenient. The cab is big for 2 people to ride in. There is a storage sort of place behind the seats that has been known to allow for sleeping. I don't miss having the 4 door, second row of seats. Big gas tank, allows for long car rides. It is very user friendly, very basic and simple. I love the height of the truck, my other vehicle being a compact car, it is nice to be able to actually see what is going on around you without any blind spots.
Cons
As soon as we bought it, we had problems with the ABS. When we took it somewhere it just turned out to be a sensor that was acting up. Now, there aren't any problems with it, the ABS light just stays on. While I love the size of the cab and extended bed, it can be very difficult to maneuver in parking lots. It can definitely take a couple tries to pull into a spot, and backing out can be difficult also. I wish that the bed had been painted with some sort of lining because all of the scratches it's gotten has turned to rust, very unappealing.

The 2002 F150 V6 XL model truck has been a reliable vehicle for over ten years. The truck has been driven over 100,000 miles, and no major mechanical work has been performed. Routine maintenance has been strictly kept which has allowed the engine, chassis, and drive shaft to stay in perfect working condition. The body of the vehicle has had zero rust. The only problem experienced to date has been replacing the handle for the suicide doors as the plastic mechanism has been worn out. The interior has held up splendid and looks better than most trucks I sit in today.
Story
Drove this truck across country from Florida to Kentucky and back. Nothing better than seeing the country side from the window of an F-150.
Pros
Typical gas mileage is around 16 MPG around town and 20 MPG on the highway. The seats are very comfortable, and the truck rides very smooth considering its age. The shocks have withheld a lot of abuse and weight without having any maintenance required. The A/C and heating system has been working solid for the past ten years without any "recharging" needed.
Cons
The gas mileage for V6 is surprisingly around the same level as the V8 model which is disappointing considering the amount of HP and hauling weight sacrificed. The seat, although comfortable, can be wearisome on long trips and does require additional back support.
