Overall, my Chevy Suburban has been a great car for certain occasions, and terrible for other occasions. On the interior, the car features a very standard dashboard with a common radio and a/c unit seen on most American built vehicles. I have driven about 10,000 miles since I bought it used and have had to put in roughly $700 dollars total of maintenance and labor. According to my mechanic, the car has about 5,000 miles until I will have to spend another $400 dollars on parts and labor.
Historia
My best memory with this vehicle is the time my roommates and I road tripped to a music festival roughly eight hours away from our home. We got seven guys together and drove to the adjacent state for five days of great music, fun, and friends.
A Favor
This vehicle is fantastic for those who tend to move large groups of people or equipment on a daily basis. The Suburban features a large and powerful V8 engine with three rows of seating to accommodate up to eight people comfortably. The car has the option of switching from two wheel drive to four wheel drive with the movement of a lever.
En Contra
The biggest issue with this car is the poor gas mileage it receives. At roughly ten miles per gallon, and around a twenty five gallon tank, the suburban is not a cost effective vehicle to run on a day to day basis. The older this car gets, the more problem it seems to have. Some of the fixtures, in this case the door handle, seems to lack in build quality after a friend of mine was able to break it off by simply opening the door.

This truck is old and cantankerous. However, when its running right, it is solid and strong. It is a simple machine to work on. Your average home mechanic can work on this machine without special tools which is why I purchased it. It has tons of support online as the gmt400 frame was used for most of the GM truck line.
Historia
My family of 7 use this vehicle as our off road truck. We drive on the beaches in the outer banks with it regularly and stay in houses located in the off-road area of Corolla where only 4x4 vehicles that have enough clearance to not get bogged down in sand dare venture.
A Favor
You do not need to have much mechanical training to work on and maintain this vehicle. The truck has a small block 350 engine which has been a base engine in many cars and trucks. The issues are well known and documented on how to fix. Also, there is a lot of support through after market companies for the engine and transmission like Summit Racing and Jegs. Flowmaster produced a complete exhaust for this truck which I have running and I love the sound.
En Contra
The biggest issue I have with this truck is the gas consumption. This was the last year that GM produced the Chevy small block engine in its domestic trucks before switching to the LS series engine. Due to the size of the truck and the engine type it only gets about 12 mpg.
