The van was a fleet vehicle at a local university before I bought it, and it has some features due to being an institutional vehicle that are inconvenient. For example, the rear heat and air conditioning controls were disabled, and the back and side door locks were set to be controlled by the driver only. The van had less than 60,000 miles on the odometer when I purchased it, but it had a lot of interior rattles and some of the upholstery was damaged. The tires that it came with were adequate but not new, so they had to be replaced early on. There is a CD player which worked fine at first but now sometimes jams or won't play some CDs. The outside lock on the driver's side front door came loose and fell into the door, so I have to enter vehicle through one of the other doors to unlock t... (more)
Story
We have been able to take trips and visit places we otherwise would not have been able to afford, because we can set up the van as a camper and avoid the cost of motels or hotels on our trips. We have visited several state and national parks and taken advantage of making the van into a camper.
Pros
The van has plenty of room, and I am able to put in and take out the back seats as needed. This allows me to use the van as a camper on occasion with a bed in the back and cabinets for storage, and it allows me to haul equipment or other large items with the back open and accommodating large items. The van also gets reasonably good gas mileage, making it fairly economical to drive.
Cons
There are a lot of interior rattles, and there are a few holes or worn places in the upholstery. The ABS brakes don't work very well, as they "warn" me of ice or slick roads when I'm driving on perfectly dry smooth pavement. The seat belts sometimes lock up when there has been nothing to warrant their locking, and I have to remove the belt and let it retract before it will work normally again.

This vehicle is as loyal as your pet dog. It protects you with size and ease of handling, It is roomy with lots of head room and storage room overhead and it the back, It can seat eight or more and it has a rear seat that makes into a bed. It has an entertainment center, captain chairs, four, and great interior decor with cloth and wood. It has wonderful interior overhead lighting and great to see out of side windows that does not allow speakers to look in, The rear seat can be removed to haul stuff like a pickup and you do not have to worry about rain. Its a converter to serve its masters wishes, It has a 350 powerful motor that is not a oil burner and it gets good gas miles from 15 to 20. It handles like a car on the road and is good on tire wear. I cannot find anything wrong with it... (more)
Story
When my neighbors and my family get hungry for pizza and we want to travel together, eight of us, we use the van and have a great time watching a video, talking or just sight seeing after and before we eat our pizza. We use it for viewing fireworks displays and taking short trips to visit state parks too.
Pros
It is convertable to a work truck by removing the rear seat. It has great head room, it has great interior decor. You can use it as a rec vehicle and travel. The paint does not chip off and peel. It has ease on enter with two side doors and double doors on the back. It has room to store stuff overhead and behind rear seat. It has a 350 motor and gas mileage is ok. Its side windows give a great outside view and the curtain keep peekers from looking in.
Cons
The only negative is I cannot park in a parking deck due to its height.

This Chevy Astro Van has been one of the best utility vehicles I have ever owned. I bought it used, but with very little mileage on it. It has bucket seats in front and middle, with bench seat in the back. It has been a very reliable vehicle for me when I was commuting to and from work and now that I am retired, it is a good vehicle to go shopping with or on small strips. I hope to keep this vehicle until it and I die! It has only been in the shop for minor things like oil changes, tire rotation, etc.
Pros
My Chevy Astro van has been one of the best investments I have made with respect to used cars, vans or trucks. The gas mileage has been pretty good for this size vehicle and with the price of gas the way it is now, that has been a help. I use this vehicle to transport my grandkids on occasion and I feel they are safe in this vehicle. The breaking system has been excellent with no problems at all, although I am thinking that now it may need some new breaks and will be taking it in soon for that to be done.
Cons
The only negative thing I can think of for this vehicle at this time in my life (being retired now, etc.) Is that maybe we don't need a vehicle this big. Because is drives very well and has good air, etc., I will probably keep it until one of us dies, but honestly there aren't many cons with this vehicle that I can think of.
