2009 Chevrolet Suburban - I like the vehicle, I do feel that it is a little heavy in turns

I am reviewing the 2009 Chevrolet Suburban LX model. I have to say that I really enjoy driving this vehicle. It feels very safe and heavy and is a good quality family vehicle. The interior trim is rather basic, but it has enough bells and whistles to provide for a fun family road trip. The vehicle performs best when on the open road. The gas mileage is surprising for such a large and heavy vehicle. The only downside to the Suburban is the turn radius. At times it can feel like turning a bus. Overall, we are very satisfied with our purchase of the Suburban, and can definitely see ourselves buying another one someday.
Pros
The most positive aspect of this vehicle is the safety factor. When you are on the road, it feels like you are driving a tank, but a smooth riding tank. It's a good feeling when you're with the family. I enjoy the smooth ride, the good highway gas mileage, and the quiet interior. Unlike other large vehicles, the Suburban does not feel, or sound, like you are driving a semi truck down the road. My model came with satellite radio, which is very nice, as well as all power seats and windows.
Cons
The main negative factor for me is the turning radius. The Suburban is a large vehicle and making a turn can sometimes be a hassle. There is also the gas mileage while driving in the city. The Suburban is such a heavy vehicle that driving light to light can be an expensive proposition.

I got this car to add more room for our growing family. I love that we can all fit into it along with the kids' friends and can all ride safely together. I love the trunk space for strollers and baby gear. When we put the back seat down, which is very easy to do, we can haul all sorts of large items. We yard sale and buy lots of furniture so this was a great quality for our lifestyle. I also like that it's a 3/4 ton making it powerful enough to haul trailers if we need to. Living in a winter climate four wheel drive was important and this car handles like a champ in the snow. I love the storage space in the compartments. With kids I was worried about the upholstery and being able to clean it. It cleans up great with some water and upholstery cleaner.
Story
The suburban has made it fun for family road trips. Everyone has room and we can take friends and cousins along with us easily and have fun on our car ride.
Pros
I love the leg room, the spaciousness of the cabin, and the storage room. It handles great in the snow. It can pull a camper or trailer with ease.
Cons
I wish the middle seat section had more of the metal hooks in the seat for attaching child seats, rather than having to use the seat belts. They have the hooks on the passenger side, but not the driver side. We have two kids in car seats and I would feel better about their safety if I knew I could use the hooks instead of the seat belts. My other con is not having the rear air controller in the back so that those sitting in the back could adjust their own air, instead I have to do it from the front.

My 2008 suburban is overall a decent vehicle. It shows some wear and tear after 7 years, but with consistent repairs and some care it still gets me where I'm going comfortably and holds numerous people and things. As long as the gas prices stay low, I will hold onto this vehicle until it gets up past 200,000 miles. Despite its drawbacks I enjoy driving and riding my Suburban.
Story
Using the suburban for longer trips has allowed for comfort and easy drives. We went to Galveston one time and drove it through town and onto the Bolivar Ferry then all the way down the island and had no issues with the vehicle. A memorable day indeed.
Pros
The suburban's size alone is a component of its best attributes. Whether I or my wife are driving the vehicle, I don't fear for our safety. We also own a small car and it does not give near the same feeling - I really hope we avoid a wreck in either but particularly in our car since the Suburban is so safe to ride in. At the same time big grocery days and moving things around is no trouble either given that we took the back seat out of the vehicle and enjoy tons of room at the back.
Cons
If I was driving this vehicle outside of a city, I could expect around 16-17 miles per gallon. However, since I encounter stop and go traffic a few times weekly sometimes I register closer to 10 miles per gallon. Thankfully, the last year or so has seen gas prices staying below two dollars per gallon and have been easy on my pocketbook. If they go back to $3 and above per gallon that's going to hurt.
