My mom bought this car sometime in 2006-2008. She drives about 200 miles each day, to and from work, so she needed something with good gas mileage. She drove it until it had about 220,000 miles on it. She loved this car, then she passed it on to me when she bought a new one. Even though it has so many miles it's still in great condition. Obviously we had to replace things from time to time but you would have to do that with any vehicle if you drove it as much as it's been driven. It has this really weird thing in the middle on the ceiling which we named "moon light". I honestly have no idea what it's for because it doesn't give much actual light unless you hold your hand directly under it. I love this car and am happy to have it now.
Story
Road trips! We would take road trips every summer for vacation. I absolutely love driving across the states and this car was definitely comfortable enough to do that.
Pros
It drives well. It gets awesome gas mileage. It's comfortable especially if you're taking long trips. It can fit things in it that you wouldn't think could fit, due to the back seats being able to fold down. We've put an 8ft Christmas tree in it once.
Cons
The windows are SO small. That is my #1 problem with the car. You have to like, bend down and look under and up to see stop lights. Also, in the model we have- there aren't very many "inside" lights. There is one on the ceiling and on the mirror but besides that there aren't any, so it's not very good if you want to look at something at night.

I liked the gas mileage and the storage space available for a small SUV. It performed well, to my liking. Shortly after I purchased it, the brake rotors had to be replaced. This was keeping in time with the age of the vehicle. There is some space concerns in the back seat, specifically with fitting my child's car seat comfortably in the back seat.
Story
Was able to use roof racks for a long car ride/vacation.
Pros
This vehicle gets excellent gas mileage for an SUV. It is a great vehicle for a small family, with ample storage space and the ability to fold down ALL seats. Also has roof racks which make long trips easier. Does well in the snow and has great air conditioning. I enjoy the A/V port so I can easily plug in my phone to listen to music. I also enjoy that I can connect my phone via Bluetooth for hands-free phone capability while I am driving.
Cons
This vehicle was part of a recall which had to be fixed. My car was in the shop for over a month, for which period I had a loaner. The overall look of the vehicle is okay, although I got a lot of comments about how the vehicle looks like a hearse. There is not a lot of leg room in the back seat, which was disappointing for passengers. Also, I have a small child and her car seat is a tight fit in the back seat. If the car seat is behind the drivers seat, the drivers seat has to be in a very high and upright position in order for the car seat to fit.

Not exactly the best car I have ever driven. If you need something that takes you from A to B while transporting some light stuff, it might be the car for you. If I could go back and choose something different I probably would.
Story
It was helpful when moving into my new apartment. The limited space meant I had to take plenty of trips, but I was able to take more, and larger items than a car generally would, so plus.
Pros
-Hatchback: I admit, having a vehicle that can transporting things is very handy. But the HHR isn't good for anything heavy or bulky. For that you might as well get a truck. -Good gas mileage: The exact number I am not sure of, but I am always happy with
