I would not buy this car again. We have had all kinds of problems with the A/C, motor mounts and back hatch door. Some of the problems were fixed under to warranty. I do not drive the car very much and the warranty ran out because of time, not miles, so I have a car that has 40K miles and the A/C died. Since the warranty had expired, we had to pay a lot of money to have the A/C fixed. We have a 1998 Toyota Camry which has never had any A/C problems. It is actually cold in the Camry during a very hot summer day. I would not buy this car again. How does the A/C just die when the car has 40K miles? It cost us thousands to fix the A/C.

I really like how well the vehicle handles in the snow, and I love how much space it has compared to the car I had before. It has been great for long road trips. I also like that I can take friends and kids easily in this vehicle. The reason that I only think that it's ok is that we've had to have it repaired several times. We've had a lot of issues with the alternator. It was replaced with a factory refurbished one when it gave out, and the repair guy said that the alternator's made for the Traverse aren't that great, but that he would replace it for us. Lo and behold, the next alternator died in four months. We had that one replaced with another factory refurb, and it was dead within three weeks. We've since gotten a brand new alternator put in it and haven't had any more troubles.
Story
I recently strapped a kayak on top of it with bungee cord so my kids could paddle around the neighborhood beach. Everyone was impressed that I was able to do that all by myself, and all the kids loved having the kayak to paddle around the river.
Pros
I like the GPS system, the DVD player, handles well in the snow, roomy, has a luggage rack.
Cons
Alternator has gone bad several times, poor gas mileage

The car has a lovely spacious interior that can seat 7 people. I love how roomy it is and that I didn't have to resort to purchasing a mini van. I am in mini van denial with this SUV instead. The seats are leather and there are captain's chairs in the second row that keep my kids from smacking each other too much. It has a lot of fun extras like a double moon roof and my whole family can fit in it comfortably. It's only okay as far as fuel consumption goes, but I needed a bigger vehicle and am happy with this one.
Story
We used this vehicle to tow our boat for the first time out to Norris Lake, TN. We got lost and ended up pulling our boat up and down these tiny windy roads and it was super stressful as we weren't used to pulling a boat at that time. The SUV didn't let us down and there were no problems so it's funny to look back on.
Pros
I love the third row seating, and the fact that that row can fold completely flat so there's room for transporting stuff the way you would with a truck when needed. We also use this vehicle to tow a speedboat, and it has been great for that. When out of town guests visit, we can fit our family of four plus guests in this vehicle and take all of them and the boat out to the lake. I feel safe driving my kids around in this larger vehicle too. I also am spoiled by the automatic lift gate, which comes in handy for loading groceries, etc.
Cons
The gas mileage is decent for a vehicle of this class, but it does use a fair amount of fuel. I've also noticed that the gas tank seems to be on the small side, probably so that when I fill up the cost per tank doesn't shock me too badly, but this means that I have to fuel up more frequently which is annoying. It seems like a sneaky trick the manufacturers are using to trick drivers into thinking this car is more fuel efficient than it really is.
