I would not buy this car again. We have had all kinds of problems with the A/C, motor mounts and back hatch door. Some of the problems were fixed under to warranty. I do not drive the car very much and the warranty ran out because of time, not miles, so I have a car that has 40K miles and the A/C died. Since the warranty had expired, we had to pay a lot of money to have the A/C fixed. We have a 1998 Toyota Camry which has never had any A/C problems. It is actually cold in the Camry during a very hot summer day. I would not buy this car again. How does the A/C just die when the car has 40K miles? It cost us thousands to fix the A/C.

I really like how well the vehicle handles in the snow, and I love how much space it has compared to the car I had before. It has been great for long road trips. I also like that I can take friends and kids easily in this vehicle. The reason that I only think that it's ok is that we've had to have it repaired several times. We've had a lot of issues with the alternator. It was replaced with a factory refurbished one when it gave out, and the repair guy said that the alternator's made for the Traverse aren't that great, but that he would replace it for us. Lo and behold, the next alternator died in four months. We had that one replaced with another factory refurb, and it was dead within three weeks. We've since gotten a brand new alternator put in it and haven't had any more troubles.
Story
I recently strapped a kayak on top of it with bungee cord so my kids could paddle around the neighborhood beach. Everyone was impressed that I was able to do that all by myself, and all the kids loved having the kayak to paddle around the river.
Pros
I like the GPS system, the DVD player, handles well in the snow, roomy, has a luggage rack.
Cons
Alternator has gone bad several times, poor gas mileage

My 2016 Chevy Traverse has been a good fit for our family. There is enough room for eight people. The trunk space is not as large as my previous vehicle, but the back and middle rows fold down easily, creating plenty of space for when I need it. The interior is attractive. There are storage compartments that are ideal for keeping small items like sunglasses on-hand but out of sight. The car is a quiet drive and very smooth. Sometimes it feels like the car is not even turned on. The interior cools quickly with the air conditioner. I haven't experienced cold weather yet, but I don't anticipate any problems with the heater either. I love the steering wheel controls for changing radio stations and the Bluetooth capability.
Story
It was memorable when we first brought the Traverse home because we had used the specs to see whether or not the car would fit into our low-ceilinged garage. The specs online don't include the height of the antenna. Luckily, my son was outside when we were about to pull into the garage for the first time, and he got our attention before we could do any damage. The antenna screwed off easily, s... (more)
Pros
The space was the big selling point for me. I have five kids, so when they aren't in school, I often find myself needing to drive many people at once. But during the day, my job requires me to be able to fold down the seats and transport wheelchairs and walkers. The storage is very versatile. It also seems like a solid, trustworthy vehicle with few problems so far. I love the solid feel as if it would hold up fairly well in an accident if needed.
Cons
The gas mileage could be better. It isn't too bad for interstate driving, but when I'm in the city, I wish the mileage didn't drop so quickly. I did have a minor problem with the casement that fits around one of the seatbelts. It wasn't obvious when we took possession of the vehicle, but the plastic piece wouldn't stay securely around the mechanical components. The dealership replaced it at no cost, but it does seem like the part is kind of fragile.
