I have the 2500HD Duramax Diesel Silverado. It is an excellent truck, extremely tough and dependable. The overall power is more than sufficient for towing a 30' trailer or a 26' wakeboard boat up a hill. The long bed gives enough room to pack up for a weekend of camping, with plenty of room for the dogs to roam in the back. Gas mileage is much better than most of the trucks I have driven in the past, though it is not a Prius! There has been no significant issues with the engine, as long as our routine care is kept up. My main issues have been with tires, which says nothing for the actual truck!
Story
We were towing a long boat, driving down the highway. When it came to get off the highway, we had to take a sharp turn. The turning radius was so good we almost cut the corner too close. Thankfully the steering is so good in the truck, we corrected it before doing damage to the sidewalk.
Pros
I am very impressed with the power the truck retains when towing anything. There is no lag or sluggishness. The steering turns on a dime, which for a crew cab long bed, that is saying a lot! My favorite feature is the long bed. It gives us so much space for storage and also for our canine companions to roam about.
Cons
The gas mileage is about 18mpg highway when not towing, which is not amazing. When towing it goes down to about 12-14 mpg depending on what we are towing. Also, sometimes it feels the air conditioning is working too hard when we are towing, so we have to turn it off.

Our vehicle has been a very dependable purchase so far. The truck is an 8 cylinder, but shifts down to 4 cylinders when all 8 are not needed, so that makes it more fuel efficient than older models of the same truck. At the time of purchase, we traded in an older Silverado and have come to love some of the added/upgraded features, including the transmission shifting (mentioned previously), sound controls on the steering wheel, and the powerful ventilation system. In addition, we appreciate the safety of having a Bluetooth system for driving and took advantage of the free On-Star support during our first six months of ownership. We plan to drive the Chevy for approximately ten years and have been extremely satisfied with our purchase so far. There are just a few features we would adjust ... (more)
Pros
Bluetooth, volume controls in steering, V8-V4 cylinder shifting, fold-down back seat and comfortable seats.
Cons
There are some design flaws. For instance, the cupholders in the driver and passenger side door are barely usable - it's extremely difficult to reach down into them because the side of the door and door handle are in the way. Also, the upper dash glove compartment has an unusual lever opening that will surely break in a few years from someone accidentally pulling it the wrong way. There are a few other dash arrangements issues, as well.

I bought my 2003 Silverado during the end of 2002. My Chevy Silverado has been the most reliable and solid vehicle I have ever owned. I love the vehicle so much that I plan on driving it until the wheels literally fall off. After driving this truck 450,000 miles in the 16 years I've owned it, it has NEVER let me down. I've put minimal money in repairs and parts in the truck. The LS 6.0 engine in the 2500HD is very powerful and I use it daily for towing a heavy dump trailer. After 300,000 miles, I had a mechanic tear the engine down in this truck to add some performance parts, namely high compression pistons and a cam. After 300,000 hard miles the mechanic showed me the inside of the engine and how it still had the factory cross hatches inside the engine, meaning little to no wear! Not ... (more)
Story
The first day of owning my Chevy Silverado was a hectic experience. It was pouring down rain and coming from driving a small car, I was not used to the power. The first day in the rain with the truck, every time I took off from a light i would spin the tires because I wasn't used to driving such a powerful vehicle!
Pros
Durable Long Lasting Sleek Interior
Cons
Poor MPG Poor Comfort
