I have owned the 2002 Chevy Blazer for a couple of years now. While it has been fairly steady, it has had a litany of issues over the years. Especially with the electronic system. In the looks department, it's just your typical American Suv from the early 2000's. Nothing fancy, but not ugly either. The gas mileage is not good to say the least. Of course, that is in comparison to newer models which have much stricter MPG regulations. As far as positives go, it was relatively affordable, and the engine has held up nicely. The stereo system also works reliably. It gets the job done, but their are better alternatives.
Story
I went on a road trip to the beach and it did pretty nicely.
Pros
Affordable Stereo system
Cons

It's a great car. I bought it new and it's never had a problem but it's still under extended warranty. It will be paid off pretty soon and it wasn't very expensive considering other cars. The gas mileage is EXCELLENT. It's still a surprise after the last car I had. When the light comes on (yes, I wait until the last minute to get to a gas station) I can still go about 30 miles, maybe more, without running out completely. My last car made it about 8 miles once the light came on. It's okay looking, doesn't look like anything that would be in a car show but civics aren't really like that. It's comfortable and has plenty of space. The headlights are great (in fact the regular lights are like bright lights, which might be annoying to other people) but that is handy for me because I live in ... (more)
Story
I took it on a little road trip to visit my girlfriend's family with her and brought her two cats. One of them was NOT happy about being in a car and the other one just chilled and acted cool about it. I went to a red light in Odessa and a guy pulled up beside me. He was in a muscle car and he could see how lame we probably looked with cats roaming the car. He and his friend were laughing ... (more)
Pros
The gas mileage and headlights are the top "pro" for me. I save a lot of money not having to buy gas all the time. I also like my seat warmers because I get cold and don't really want warm air blowing on my face from the heater. Trunk and back seat space are adequate, I went on a mini road trip and we had enough room.
Cons
I don't really have a con beyond the fact that it might not look like a "manly" car meaning one that's really powerful. I don't actually care about that. It's a great car but that might be a turn off to some guys. Of course, if you care about that, you probably aren't shopping for a civic anyway.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer - I Love My Blazer

I love my 2000 Chevy Blazer. I bought it when it was eight years old and have had it for eight years. It has over 100,000 miles on it and has needed very little maintenance. The main reasons I love it are that it handles well in the snow, which is important to me, and it is a very comfortable vehicle to drive. I like sitting up high and can see over the dash and hood so I know how close to something I am while parking. The headrest is comfortable. I am short, and believe it or not, an uncomfortable headrest is a deal breaker when I look at cars.
Story
I was driving home after work in a huge snowstorm in northern Illinois and was on a road that links one county road to another and makes a sharp curve. I had cleared the snow off the windshield and all the windows before driving. As I rounded the curve, all the snow that had been on top of the car's roof slide forward onto the windshield, and I could not see a thing. I had to maneuver the c... (more)
Pros
Comfort is the top positive thing. I also love the interior package which includes a compass and thermometer for outside temperature. Dependability is also important. It doesn't break down on me. When I moved, I fit a lot of furniture in the back, with the back seat folded down. When I bought a new coffee table, it fit easily in the back of the Blazer.
Cons
This vehicle occasionally slides around on wet pavement. Fuel economy is not good. Only 14 MPG in city driving.
