2003 Chevrolet Suburban - My love for a Chevy!!!!
I loved this vehicle from the first day we bought it. We had previously owned a Chevy Tahoe but it was a little smaller than the Suburban. My Suburban is the ultimate family vehicle for us. Whether taking short trips or long trips, I prefer taking the Suburban over all my other vehicles. Driving the Suburban makes me feel like I own the road. It runs terrific, even when it's pushing over 200,000 miles. The dark blue-grayish color is perhaps my favorite color option they had on this model. It is a comfortable ride and I've had others compliment how smooth it drives. With all the room inside, it is perfect to take camping and raise the back hatch to sleep out of. It gives me comfort to know how sturdy and well built this vehicle is if I ever got into an accident. I have driven this vehic... (more)

It gives me comfort to know how sturdy and well built this vehicle is if I ever got into an accident. I have driven this vehicle in rough terrain and it hasn't disappointed me yet. Up steep mountains or down steep slopes, this vehicle is up to the task. I even named my Suburban "Big Bertha". My Suburban has been through a lot with me and my family and I hope to continue using it until it's on its last wheel.
Me and my family took the suburban to Smoky Mountains in Tennessee just recently. We drove it Cade's Cove and enjoyed a picnic out on the field while looking at wildlife. During that trip, we also drove up to Clingman's Dome one evening and hiked the trail to watch the sunset. Beautiful and breathtaking experience.

First of all, I love how the vehicle was equipped with OnStar. In case I ever needed assistance on the side of the road, I know that OnStar will be there ready to help. I definitely love the leather interior and the heated seats. Definitely helps when it's cold outside or you have a sore back. The entertainment is another thing that is definitely a plus. It offers am/fm stereo and a CD player. If I get tired with what the radio stations are playing, I can just pop in a cd and still listen to music. It has 3rd row seats and still has tons of room left for groceries or other things in the back. The tinted windows are great. It's not too dark but dark enough that when driving by, a person can't see into the vehicle. The sunroof is another great thing I love about my suburban. Roll that window back, stick my hands out, and enjoy the summer breeze while driving down the road. It also has a step up rail for shorter girls like me that need an extra step/help getting into the vehicle. The gas mileage is surprisingly great for this vehicle. I believe I am averaging about 24 mpg.
It is a big vehicle and if I'm needing to get into a tight parking space... forget it. This vehicle isn't the type to squeeze in to small spaces. There is no 4WD. Don't get me wrong, I've had it up mountains and low in valleys, but as far as snow goes it will only get you so far without the 4WD. With it being a big vehicle, it is hard to clean up because of the space. It takes a while vacuuming the carpets and wiping the interior down. When cleaning the exterior, it's hard to reach the top and clean it. I can only hope it looks decent from up top. The nobs on the inside, like for the radio... (more)

When cleaning the exterior, it's hard to reach the top and clean it. I can only hope it looks decent from up top. The nobs on the inside, like for the radio or adjusting the seat, are easy to pop off. As far as maintenance, it is a big motor and it takes a lot of oil. So when getting an oil change it can be more costly than a regular sized vehicle. The sunroof can sometimes get stuck. If it rains and I forgot to close it all the way, water gets in and it does something to the tracks of it. When it's hot outside, the leather seats can hurt when you first sit in them; I have to open my doors and let the air circulate before sitting on the leather sometimes.
2003 Chevrolet Suburban - Chevy Suburban: the best vehicle I've owned.
I bought my 2003 Suburban in 2007 with 63,000 miles on it. Prior, I had owned a Chevy S10 and had considered it one of the best vehicles I'd ever had, so moving to another Chevy product seemed an easy choice. I've driven the 'Burb for ten years and an additional 120,000 miles before my first and only major repair. At around 180,000 miles, the transmission started to slip. I immediately had a new one put in. It wasn't even a question as to whether or not I'd be keeping the vehicle. It's just too good at too many different things. So what do I like about it: dependable, incredibly quiet cabin on the highway, powerful--it tows very well, and when you're not hauling something behind you, it has amazing pickup for something so large. So what do I like about it: dependable, incredibly quiet cabin on the highway, powerful--it tows very well, and when you're not hauling something behind you, it has amazing pickup for something so large. The Suburban has a lot of interior room; you can comfortably seat 6 large adults and still have plenty of space for gear in the back. True four-wheel drive with 4/low. If you are serious about hunting or camping, the vehicle crawls rough/steep terrain very well. Wheelbase and body height make for poor break-over angle, but it is amazingly capable off-highway for something so large and heavy. It's comfortable; you can drive all day and won't find yourself beat up or exhausted. On long drives it's just an amazing rig. Fit and finish inside and out are very good as well. The only drawback I see is fuel economy. It uses a lot of fuel unless you're extremely careful with the throttle, and even at that, it's still going to be bad. That said, if you need or want this kind of vehicle, you can't go wrong with a Suburban.
Four-low crawl up a very steep and rocky "Jeep-only" trail in the heart of the Arizona desert to catch an amazing sunset.

Comfortable, powerful, quiet and capable.

Horrendous gas mileage. Can be difficult to park if you're not familiar with larger vehicles, but that soon becomes a non issue. The A-pillar is large, and on the driver's side, it can block your view. You'll be moving your head around it to make sure nothing and no one is in your path.
