Our Chevrolet Suburban has been a wonderful vehicle for us. We area always on the go - from kids sporting events and practices, to hauling our boat to the beach, bringing dogs to the vets, and generally going on road trips - we do it all in this vehicle. We live in the Northeast, where we get a lot of snow and ice, and the Suburban has always been great in the snow. It has been very good to us service-wise, and we have not needed anything major done to it, besides replacing the "knock sensors". It does seem to need tires a bit more often that our other vehicles did, but this could be because of where we take and use this, in addition to hauling a camper and/or a boat on a lot of occasions. I recommend financing due to cost, unless you can afford to pay cash or get a better rate than wh... (more)
Story
We took it out to Nauset Beach on the Cape and were camping with it for almost a week. It was a lot of fun 4-wheeling on the dunes and living out on the beach for a week.
Pros
It is comfortable to seat 8 people and still have room for goods in the roomy trunk area. We get fairly good gas mileage for a big SUV, not great, but better than the Ford Expedition we used to have.
Cons
My only issue is that it does not sit up as high as our old SUV used to. It seems somewhat lower, almost like a car, and I like being up higher than other cars on the road.

Our Suburban is a great family car. We are a family of six, and we all fit comfortably in the vehicle. We travel to Florida from Michigan every year, and this truck fits all of us and our gear very comfortably. It has a nice roof rack that we use annually - very secure. We also use our Suburban to go fishing nearly every weekend in the summer. Lots and lots of gear fit in the trunk of the truck. It's great!
Story
Last weekend, my husband took our kids to the lake. He fit a four-person raft, six fishing poles, all the towels, tackle boxes, gear, etc., in the trunk. He had room for six people to sit comfortably.
Pros
We love the TVs in the car. The kids watch videos on our long trips. The truck is very quiet while we are driving. It really blocks the exterior sounds from the road well. The Bluetooth is a great feature - nice for hands-free phone calls. I really like how the seats have heaters and cooling systems built in. The leather seats would be unbearably hot in the summer if it didn't have the cooling system. Rear view cameras for reversing is super helpful - nice to know when you can back up safely.
Cons
It is costly to replace the tires on the truck. They are relatively large so it can get pricey. The gas mileage is not good on these trucks, which is to be expected.
