Our Chevrolet Suburban has been a wonderful vehicle for us. We area always on the go - from kids sporting events and practices, to hauling our boat to the beach, bringing dogs to the vets, and generally going on road trips - we do it all in this vehicle. It is comfortable to seat 8 people and still have room for goods in the roomy trunk area. We get fairly good gas mileage for a big SUV, not great, but better than the Ford Expedition we used to have. We lived for a while in the Northeast, where we got a lot of snow and ice, and the Suburban had always been great in the snow. My only issue is that it does not sit up as high as our old SUV used to. It seems somewhat lower, almost like a car, and I like being up higher than other cars on the road. It has been very good to us service-wise,... (more)
Story
We take this to the beach a lot, and a lot of our excursions on the beach are in our Suburban. When we were out fishing from shore one time, we caught a HUGE Florida Pompano. It was really a lot of fun and good eating too!
Pros
It seats a lot of people, I can haul anything, including our boat and a full load of stuff in the rear, it is easy to get into an out of, and most dealerships and auto mechanics say it is an easy vehicle to work on.
Cons
We don't get very good around-town gas mileage. It seems to suck fuel down pretty quickly and is always thirsty! We had an issue with the knock sensors, and we do have to make sure we get an alignment done every 8-10 months, otherwise it really will chew up tires quickly.

This is an exceptional car. I have 4 children from age 8-18. Despite the fact they are girls, they are slobs who are very hard on everything. This car has withstood it all. I have driven it over 120k miles, and it still runs great. The trim work miraculously has stayed intact. The children prefer to travel in the car because it is roomy and comfortable. I have to agree that it is a comfortable drive. We did have to have the transmission replaced at 96k miles, but it was still under warranty. Around 100k miles, the aux cord port started to be less reliable. This model does not have Bluetooth, but it does have a USB port which you can play your music through, so it isn't a major deal not to have the aux port. This car has taken a beating with my large family, pets, and frequent road tr... (more)
Story
I took the car to a Florida beach you could drive on. It was perfect for that! I raised the back hatch, and we had an instant shade shed. One of my kids even sat in the very back reading by the beach. I didn't have to pack anything more than a couple of camp chairs and towels! It was super easy on this mom!
Pros
This car is large and roomy. It is very comfortable to travel long distances in this vehicle with my pack of children and pets. There is plenty of room for luggage as well. This car has easily withstood the abuse of all my kids: me hitting things while driving it, having 3 kids learn to drive with it, and one very large great Dane/Pitbull mix.
Cons
The large size makes it easy to hit things, even with the back-up camera. It is a gas guzzler, but if you have a large family, it's a price you have to pay.
