This model vehicle was on the top of my list when I began searching for a larger model due to impending parenthood. Also being considered were the Escape and the Fusion. The first time driving this model, the size was a bit overwhelming (I was coming from a 2000 Chevy Cavalier!) but I quickly became comfortable. The seats were VERY comfortable, and I did not feel as though I were driving a van (which is what I expected) the handling was much more similar to driving a truck (like an F150). The back seat was also surprisingly comfortable, and spacious! Midway through my pregnancy I utilized the back seat area for daily naps on break at work. The back seats folded down very easily to allow for a very ample amount of space in the back. Even with the rear seats still up, the storage space i... (more)
Story
Not yet, but I am excited to bring home my new son in it!
Pros
My favorite feature of the vehicle is the parking assist. As I was already about 6 months pregnant when we purchased the Edge, turning completely around to look behind me was becoming increasingly difficult. The parking assist alert system was, and still is, tremendously helpful in backing out of our tight driveway as well as in shopping center parking lots. The space is another positive on this vehicle. With our first child on the way, the need for storage of large items like a stroller and a pack and play were much needed, and the Edge allows for space to spare!
Cons
After about 3 months of ownership, about the only thing I could say negatively about this vehicle is the gas mileage, but I was expecting an increase in gas usage when we upgraded to such a large vehicle.

Four years ago I purchased a 2009 Ford Edge. I am the type of person who doesn't like to car shop, and so put off doing so until it becomes a must. I was looking for a sport utility and was offered the Edge to test drive. To my surprise it sat up higher than expected, was roomy enough inside to accommodate my family and had plenty of get up and go. The biggest surprise was the smooth ride. The only thing that I haven't liked is that I have had to replace both of the rear ball bearings. Other than that just basic care has been needed. The biggest surprise was the amount of cargo you can store in the back...Then double that if you fold down the rear seats. All in all it is a roomy, nicely made car that makes you feel like you got something more on the luxurious side for a lot less ;money
Pros
Love the heated leather seats. Keep you warm on those cold Utah winters. Sun roof makes it feel sporty and fun. Smooth ride and peppy speed get ya where you need to be.
Cons
Seems to have problems with ball bearings. Not the greatest fuel economy.
