Ford Edge Unexpected Great Car
Four years ago I purchased a 2009 Ford Edge. I am the type of person who doesn't like to car shop, and so put off doing so until it becomes a must. I was looking for a sport utility and was offered the Edge to test drive. To my surprise it sat up higher than expected, was roomy enough inside to accommodate my family and had plenty of get up and go. The biggest surprise was the smooth ride. The only thing that I haven't liked is that I have had to replace both of the rear ball bearings. Other than that just basic care has been needed. The biggest surprise was the amount of cargo you can store in the back...Then double that if you fold down the rear seats. All in all it is a roomy, nicely made car that makes you feel like you got something more on the luxurious side for a lot less ;money

Space, Comfort and Style, a great SUV
This model vehicle was on the top of my list when I began searching for a larger model due to impending parenthood. Also being considered were the Escape and the Fusion. The first time driving this model, the size was a bit overwhelming (I was coming from a 2000 Chevy Cavalier!) but I quickly became comfortable. The seats were VERY comfortable, and I did not feel as though I were driving a van (which is what I expected) the handling was much more similar to driving a truck (like an F150). The back seat was also surprisingly comfortable, and spacious! Midway through my pregnancy I utilized the back seat area for daily naps on break at work. The back seats folded down very easily to allow for a very ample amount of space in the back. Even with the rear seats still up, the storage space in the back of the Edge is impressive. After our baby shower, we were able to fit all the items generously gifted by family and friends into the Edge, including 2 car seats, a full size stroller, and a diaper pail, along with the many other smaller items. The steering was smooth and despite the large size of the vehicle allowed for easy maneuvering into parking spaces. The pick up on the freeway was also comforting, the Edge might be big but she can go when the situation calls for it. The parking assist feature was extremely helpful when I first began driving the Edge, as I was not used to such a large vehicle, and has been very helpful since in avoiding minor collisions when backing out of driveways or parking spaces. There is a feature also that allows a line in to be connected so that I can listen to music stored on my phone or an mp3 player by plugging directly into the stereo with a line out cable. The center console space is also quite ample, allowing for storage of large books as well as smaller items like pens in the organizing tray that sits on the top.
