2011 Chevrolet Equinox - Advantages of owning an Equinox.
I have a Chevy Equinox LS 4 door SUV with back up cameras. It had built in satellite radio which was a plus. Has plenty of storage. Has a function where you can plug a USB into your music device. It also had a built in DVD player where you load the DVD in the CD slot. I dislike that it was mainly an computerized vehicle. Thus making it expensive to get repaired. Because without it the car won't run.

It was being able to go visit my family in Tennessee. it was able to handle the mountainous roads.

It had great traction when driving in a hilly area. Plenty of electronic features that are included in the price. Like having backup cameras to make parking easier. I'm a big music listener. So having various options on how I can play my music was also a bonus when I got this vehicle. Plenty of space to carry all my stuff.

It was to top heavy. I had to take corners at a slower rate. It was not a cheap car to maintain. To many electronic components that could go wrong. Its hardly to fix with all the computerized switches that regular cars don't have. The jack that comes with the car doesn't work that well when it comes to changing a blown tire. It didn't come with a built in GPS. that would of been a good feature.

2008 Chevrolet Equinox - Adequate but not excitingly so
My 2008 Chevrolet Equinox LS is a decent vehicle, adequately accomplishing everything I require of it, but, there's not a whole lot of "wow" factor. It is roomy and spacious, it has a decent sound system, has good power, decent fuel mileage, and is decently comfortable, at least up in the front row of seating. The rear seat incorporates a neat feature, namely, the seat, which is a full length bench seat, can slide forward or backwards, which is handy for your long-legged passengers, and the seat back, which is split about 60/40, can be folded down, either individually or both at the same time, giving you the ability to gain cargo carrying space, if needed. My biggest complaint about the Equinox, oddly, also is focused on the rear seat, in that it is not comfortable enough to spend long... (more)

My biggest complaint about the Equinox, oddly, also is focused on the rear seat, in that it is not comfortable enough to spend long periods of time sitting on, as one would do on a road trip. It is nearer the "hard" end of the scale, which means, after a while, one won't be able to stay comfortable back there. As for quality, I would give it a 8 out of 10, and for reliability, a 9 out of ten. Performance is not stellar, and it's not supposed to be. It has a six cylinder engine, giving a good compromise between performance and economy
My little family used the Equinox on a short road trip, traveling about five hours from home, and the most memorable thing about that trip was the uncomfortable rear seat, which I experienced when someone else took over the driving duties so I could take a break. Interior room, better than average performance, with the 6 cylinder motor, combined with acceptable fuel mileage of just over 21 mpg average overall, and a decent stereo are some of the highlights when it comes to my Equinox. Combine these with the interior room, and you have a vehicle that can do most tasks very adequately.

The rear seat, which I consider too hard to stay comfortable on for very long, along with a vague feeling accelerator pedal, front wheel drive (I much prefer a rear drive axle), and seat cover material (which is stained by spilled water, and refuses to let go of the stains despite my best efforts to remove them) are my top complaints about the Equinox. Plus, for those of us who are shade tree mechanics, doing home repair of broken or used up parts is sometimes more difficult than it should be. For example, changing a burnt out headlamp involves removing the grille trim and taking loose the... (more)
