The 1999 Chevy Tahoe LT police edition just keeps on going. The engine is strong with only a few issues. The interior is roomy and the spare tire proved to be very easily reached when we had a flat tire.
Story
Last winter we slid in the snow into a very steep, very deep ditch. My youngest daughter was so scared the truck was going to tip on it's side but I was able to work with the 4 wheel drive to get us out. She thought it was hilarious after getting out that I slid and fell on my butt twice and completely forgot about being scared.
Pros
No matter what situation I have found myself in the 4 wheel drive performs beyond expectation. Also, the frame is very strong and can withstand terrible impacts. I was T-boned by someone running a red light at about 45 mph a week after buying it. It is now 4 years later and the only things needing to be fixed were the door (cosmetic) and a bent rear axle.
Cons
The interior layout for the passengers and driver is not that convenient. The fold away cup holder on the dash is not deep enough for large drinks. All the cup holders in the vehicle fail to hold onto any cup when you make the slightest turn. So, when you have children with drinks you wind up with many spills. Finally, I think all vehicles that are larger in nature should come with a full size jack for changing tires because the little ones they come equipped with are not very safe and near impossible for the average driver to use.
