2003 Ford Ranger - My Ford Ranger is the best vehicle I've ever owned!
My vehicle is a 2003 Ford Ranger XLT. It is beige with a black and beige interior. It is fully loaded with power windows and locks, power mirrors, and a CD player. I absolutely love this truck. I will admit that I had doubts about owning a Ford before I acquired this truck, but at the time I needed a vehicle, this one was the only one available to me that I could actually afford, so I had to take it. I am so glad that I did. This Ford Ranger has been the most solid, reliable vehicle that I've ever owned. It is extremely tough! You can tell it was built to last and to withstand a few bumps and bruises, because just recently, someone backed into the front bumper, and it barely left a small, hard to notice little ding, while the other person was left with a big dent in their bumper! The gas mileage is also much better than I would expect for a truck of this size with a V6. A tank of gas (and the tank holds over 16 gallons) will last me all week, and I drive over 60 miles a day round trip to work each day, and many more miles of traveling that isn't for work.
I hauled a grandfather clock in this truck without any problems. Of course I had to strap it down, but it fit and I got it home in this truck without incident!

The pros about this vehicle? There are so many! First of all, it has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I would feel more confident driving this truck across the country than I would feel driving the Honda that I used to have. I love how, no matter how long it's been since it was last driven, now matter how long it's been sitting, it literally starts right up the very second that you turn the key! It's nice to know that I have a dependable and reliable vehicle. I've had absolutely no problems with it at all! The only things that I have done to this vehicle since I have had i... (more)

It's nice to know that I have a dependable and reliable vehicle. I've had absolutely no problems with it at all! The only things that I have done to this vehicle since I have had it, have been maintenance things - changing the oil, and changing the air filter. Everything else still works great on this truck too, even after 14 years, all of the power windows and locks still work, and I've had no issues with any of the accessories not working. The gas mileage for a truck of this size has been way better than I could have imagined. One tank of gas (16 gallon capacity tank) lasts me for about a week. The bed of the truck is also extremely roomy! I was able to fit a grandfather clock in the bed of the truck and I got it home safely!
Well, to be quite honest, there are not too many cons or negative things that I am able to say about this great truck! But. I suppose, if I absolutely had to think of something and if I were pressed to do so, could come up with a couple of cons. First of all, and quite surprisingly, this truck did not come equipped with cruise control. I was quite disappointed to discover that this truck does not have cruise control, because I do quite a bit of highway driving, and this feature would really come in handy, if it were available. I was quite disappointed to discover that this truck does not have cruise control, because I do quite a bit of highway driving, and this feature would really come in handy, if it were available. If I had cruise control on this truck, I would use it on a daily basis! The next thing that I would change about this truck, would be that I wish it had a tilt steering wheel. I am not a very tall person, so it would be nice to have the option to adjust and lower the steering wheel to a more comfortable setting, but to be quite honest, it is not that big of a deal. None of these things are enough to make me not want to buy this truck again. Despite the few and far between flaws, I would still buy this truck again in a heartbeat - I don't have to think twice about that!
2003 Ford Ranger - Good little truck
This is a good little truck for the price. We purchased it used. It's in good shape and runs well. It has the utility of a truck. It is small enough to drive and park easily. It gets relatively good gas mileage. We bought the regular cab, and it is pretty snug inside... if we had more time, we would have waited to find an extended cab. My husband is the main driver, and he is on the large size. There is not a lot of room for the seats to tilt back in the regular cab. But, surprisingly, the seat belts are plenty roomy. The AC still works really well! But it is a little weird to have to 'roll' the windows up and down and manually lock/unlock the car! Overall, it has been a nice, reliable little truck for our purposes. Also, the interior has held up very well all these years!

Our new rescue pup gets very carsick and vomits on every ride. With the truck she can ride in back, and it is easy to just hose it out!!

This model seems to retain value fairly well. It gets very good gas mileage for a truck and is much more environmentally friendly than a larger vehicle. We bought it used with a lot of mileage on it, and thirteen years old, but it still runs well and all of the original features work just fine.

The regular cab is not at all roomy. There are three seat belts in the cab, which is extremely optimistic. There is just no way that an adult (or a child safety seat) could fit in that middle 'seat'. Our model is a five-speed manual transmission so the shifter makes it impossible to seat a third person. But even in an automatic, the only way three could fit is if they were all quite skinny!
