I have driven my Ford Ranger for about 5 years and I am very pleased with it. Most new cars that I drive operate like toys and have way too much control for a small movement in the brakes, gas or steering wheel. This car feels like actually driving the car.
Story
I have moved multiple times with this truck and I can fit all of my stuff in it in one trip. I don't have a lot of furniture, but depending on your lifestyle this can be a great vehicle.
Pros
A no frills design that keep cost low and a big enough bed to haul. It is also small enough to park on the street or in parking garages.
Cons
The turning radius isn't that great, but once I got used to a two-point turn every time I tried to park my life got much easier. It seats five, but the seats in the back are very small. You can't travel long distances with five people.

2004 Ford Ranger - My Ford Ranger is a workhorse.

Since I purchased my Ford Ranger I have been very happy with it. Despite buying it used from a previous owner that had neglected preventative maintenance, I have had no issues in my part of the 85,000 miles it has been driven. It has been very dependable and rugged work vehicle for my job, which often takes me on gravel and poorly maintained roads. It has held up very well with no issues, and has not gotten stuck yet, despite not having four wheel drive. While the cab is far from roomy it is comfortable, and the compactness of the vehicle certainly helps with fuel economy. I typically get up to 26 mpg on the highway and a little less around town. My favorite part is the truck bed of course, small enough to make parking easy, but big enough to haul just about anything. From lumber to my... (more)
Story
My wife and I love ocean kayaking and once while hauling our kayaks to the beach we nearly got stuck in some loose sand. The wheels started to dig in so I told my wife to forget it and we just unloaded our kayaks right there and started out. The whole time we were on the water I was dreading the return and subsequent hassle of getting unstuck. As an added insult it started to rain just as we g... (more)
Pros
Reliability. Hauling capacity and ease thereof. Value for money. Fuel usage. Easy to get spare parts (if needed).
Cons
Small cab (very cramped if not impossible to haul a third passenger). Limited hauling capacity inside the cab. Suspension system is rather springy.
