I purchased a 2006 Ford Ranger new in June of 2006. Overall, I really like the roominess in the cab. The seats fold forward easily to access the extended cab area. The tailgate is very easy to open, sound system is high quality, and the speakers pick up all the low and high notes!
Story
My 11-year-old granddaughter is in love with my truck. She has asked me if I will promise not to sell it as she really wants it for when she is old enough to have her first vehicle. She has told her friends her grandma is going to give her the Ranger as soon as she gets a drivers license. She has told me she wants to have it repainted her latest favorite color which is green. It is currently w... (more)
Pros
The 4.0 V/6 engine is loaded with power. I have had several occasions when passing another vehicle they decided to speed up, no problem, my Ranger had extremely quick precise acceleration enabling me to safely pass the other vehicle and merge over! Seat height and thickness is exceptional. I have owned the truck for over ten years, and the seat is as firm as the day I bought it! Nice to have the option to turn the passenger airbag off with a simple turn of the ignition key. Great to have when my Grand daughter is with me.
Cons
One negative item is the lack of jump seats in the rear extended cab. The first year Ford declined making a Ranger with the rear jump seats was in 2006. That is a con to me! Now I am restricted to having only three passengers total and one needs to be slim or we all won't fit in the front seat. I am only 5'1" and weigh 131 , this will explain in further detail the seating cons! The second negative would be fuel consumption, no matter how careful I drive it averages 16 mpg around town and 23 on the highway.

2006 Ford Ranger - Good running truck, great gas mileage.

It runs really well. We have had to do no major repairs the truck. We have only kept up the maintenance. The truck gets great gas mileage. That is one of the things I enjoy about it. The bed of the truck is small. Because the bed is small it is not all that functional. I have moved while I owned the truck and it was not much help. Also the cab is small and tight. I am tall and big boned so it is not very comfortable. I put a new stereo in it that I like quite a bit. It fits in the dash great. It looks like the stereo was made in the truck. Also I have tool box in the bed. It does make the bed even smaller though.
Story
We went to the lake. We had a picnic. We swam for hours. We also did a little fishing. It was a great day.
Pros
Great gas mileage. Low maintenance.
Cons
Small and uncomfortable.
