I purchased a 2006 Ford Ranger new in June of 2006. Overall, I really like the roominess in the cab. The seats fold forward easily to access the extended cab area. The tailgate is very easy to open, sound system is high quality, and the speakers pick up all the low and high notes!
Story
My 11-year-old granddaughter is in love with my truck. She has asked me if I will promise not to sell it as she really wants it for when she is old enough to have her first vehicle. Pros
The 4.0 V/6 engine is loaded with power. I have had several occasions when passing another vehicle they decided to speed up, no problem, my Ranger had extremely quick precise acceleration enabling me to safely pass the other vehicle and merge over! Seat height and thickness is exceptional. I have owned the truck for over ten years, and the seat is as firm as the day I bought it! Nice to have the option to turn the passenger airbag off with a simple turn of the ignition key. Great to have when my Grand daughter is with me.
Cons
One negative item is the lack of jump seats in the rear extended cab. The first year Ford declined making a Ranger with the rear jump seats was in 2006. That is a con to me! Now I am restricted to having only three passengers total and one needs to be slim or we all won't fit in the front seat. I am only 5'1" and weigh 131 , this will explain in further detail the seating cons! The second negative would be fuel consumption, no matter how careful I drive it averages 16 mpg around town and 23 on the highway.

I loved this truck right from the start. It was even customed to how I wanted it. It came with all the standards plus automatic doors and windows. It also came with cruise control. These were usually not standard for trucks during this era. I was able to opt for a multi-CD changer with Bose speaker sound system. It had a v6 engine with lots of towing power. For such a vehicle, it was easy on the gas. Was getting at least 28 highway to 24 city. I was able to haul my two-seater jet ski with this with no issues for many years. It has a rugged build, solid thru and thru. The interior was very modern for the time and plush. It rode quite well throughout I would say up to 50,000 miles. Story
All the times taking the jet ski to the lake. I lived in many different states throughout my life and was able to enjoy many outdoor sites with it and my jet ski.
Pros
Mid size, not too much to handle. Sleek, fun to drive. Worked well on long trips. Great sound system. Had all the conveniences.
Cons
Just became too small over time for large jobs.
