This was my first vehicle I owned when I turned 16. I loved this car. It had great gas mileage and was fun to drive. It had four wheel drive which was great in the winter time. I live in a state that has a lot of snow and it always made me feel very safe. By the time I sold it had close to 300,000 miles. When I moved away for college it was great for the 2.5 hour drive back home. I loved driving this vehicle because I'm a short, petite person and this small SUV was the perfect size for me. With the added roof-rack I was able to fit a lot into this car.
Story
In college I was often the only one in my group of friends that had a car. This meant that I was usually the one driving. I didn't mind because I liked driving my car. I have a lot of fond memories driving around with my college friends during the winter in west Michigan. Also, when it was summer time, I also have fond memories of driving with a bunch of my friends to the beach.
Pros
This car had great gas mileage. It was very reliable, I could always count on it to get me where I needed to go. It was a safe vehicle especially in the winter time because of four wheel drive. The small size was great for me. The interior was easy to keep clean. The spare tire on the back was nice. I liked how the trunk opened on a door hinge to the side and not up.
Cons
There was a roll-over risk associated with this car. Some people that were tall didn't feel that the vehicle was spacious enough. Towards the end of the time that I owned the vehicle there were several issues but that is to be expected.

This is the second Chevrolet Tracker I have owned. I loved my 1999 Tracker so much I bought a 2001 Tracker when the '99 died. I love the 4 wheel drive component which gives exceptional traction on ice, in snow, and off roading. I also love the fact that once you hit 65 mph the vehicle starts vibrating letting you know you shouldn't go any faster. I love the sportiness of the Tracker. It is great for not only carrying 4 people comfortably, but carrying a hefty load as well. It has an awesome heating and cooling system. Its one of the best systems I have ever seen in a vehicle. You have heat or a/c in just a few minutes, versus five or ten on other vehicles. The roof rack is a bonus for carrying your Christmas tree, or a large, but fairly light box & it also has good gas mileage as well.... (more)
Story
The first time we got snow after I got my Tracker, I loaded the kids in the car, put it in four wheel drive and went to the local mall. The parking lot was empty, so we did donuts in the parking lot! Great fun!
Pros
Excellent heating and A/C. The running boards to make entry easier. There is a roof rack for carrying larger item & it seats four comfortably. It also handles well in snow, on ice and off road & there's a power button for extra boost when going uphill.
Cons
Handles rough in wind and rain, shimmies at 65 mph & it only seats four.
