I bought it used because my wife has one. Her car has been very reliable so I bought one for myself. Since purchasing it from a Ford dealership, I have been very pleased. I have had no mechanical, electrical or design. Issues. It is a very comfortable car with a well build engine and transmission. The body does have a small rest spot above a rear wheel well and a piece of inside trim is loose. Given the age and mileage, both are acceptable issues attributed to normal ware.
Story
I drove it to a state forest to camp and hike. After hiking in and setting up camp it began to storm. While trying to wait out the storm in my hammock, under a tarp, lightning began to strike all around me. I could see the hair on my arms standing due to the electrical charge. I began hearing branches fall from trees and crash to the ground. I decided to pack it in. I donned my rain poncho and... (more)

I like that the Ford Taurus is a step above the Ford escort. It's an automatic, which is always good. I have over 100,000 miles on it and it is still going despite the occasional hick-up. Overall, it's a decent car for what I paid for it and it's still running despite some problems with the heater and some internal noises. It has only overheated once but I managed to fix it. It rides a little rough but it has plenty of trunk space and room for passengers.
Story
I've taken this car on many long and adventurous road trips all across the Southern states. It's been booted, towed, had tires blown on a bridge over the ocean, and been in plenty of memorable moments.
Pros
Has a decent amount of horsepower and torque which is good for long rides on the interstate. Economical car that isn't going to break the bank. I got mine from a police auction. Drivers seat is ergonomic and comfortable. There is plenty of leg room for everyone and a good size trunk space. Overall, it's a reliable car.
Cons
In the city it is a little long and hard to parallel park. It also doesn't get the best of gas mileage but that's ok compared to the price. I frequently have a problem with the car making noises and not giving me the full amount of power when I have the AC running. This can also make starting the car a little hard. This problem is corrected when I turn off the AC temporarily. Once the car gets going up to speed the AC is not a problem. However, this can present a danger when trying to accelerate on ramps to the highway. The check engine light frequently goes on and has been on for quite s... (more)
