2010 Ford Taurus Owner Ratings & Reviews

2010 Ford Taurus - I like it more than I thought I would.
I like the Taurus quite a bit more than I expected to. It was not even on my radar when I started shopping for cars, but in searching for AWD cars and wagons (I already have an SUV but needed another daily driver for work commute), this came up. It has the Volvo AWD system, and the fit and finish are better than several of the other cars I test drove. I've always been a truck/station wagon guy for utility's sake, but this one was a great deal.
Story
I was able to comfortably transport five adults including myself on a three-hour round trip to visit my friends' father in the hospital three times a week for several weeks.
Pros
It has almost all the amenities I was looking for: AWD, heated leather seats, sunroof, safety features, and decent fuel economy for its size (especially compared to my Land Cruiser), and the styling is actually good for a domestic car, in my opinion. It has excellent comfort factor (I have a bad back) and safety is high on my list as an ex-paramedic. For not being a wagon, it actually has excellent cargo capacity, and both seats fold down in the rear, so that larger items can fit in the trunk/back seat like a wagon. I was able to move a whole bunch of new shelves and such from IKEA that ne... (more)
Cons
The biggest con so far has been finding a roof rack to fit. It's the first vehicle I've owned in decades (and I've owned more than average) to not have a roof rack or relatively easy provisions for one.
2010 Ford Taurus - 2010 Ford Taurus.
The 2010 Ford Taurus has been good, solid transportation. It is nothing fancy but it gets the job done. I have had it for over five years and I have had nothing major go wrong with it other than a slight leak in the air conditioning system that requires a can of refrigerant every year or so. Other than that it has required only normal maintenance (e.g., tires, wiper blades, oil changes and filter replacement.) To date, with about 60,000 miles, it doesn't use oil between oil changes and runs very well on both the highway and in urban environment. It gets good albeit not great gas mileage which isn’t a problem given my short commutes and the current price of fuel.
Story
I was driving in a snow storm one time and there was a long line of cars following a snow plow. It was slow going to I passed and made a lane for others to follow. It went through it like a champ. I think the other drivers appreciated it and I got a laugh out of it.
Pros
It is just good solid reliable transportation that doesn't break the bank. I can count on it to start on cold or really hot days and in inclement weather. The cost of ownership has been low compared to some of the foreign cars I've owned. To sum it up, it's a good work horse that gets me to where I'm going.
Cons
Other than it is a rather “garden variety” car, with many like it on the road, there isn’t much to complain about. The seat belt alarm and other warning indications such as low fuel or an open door is very loud and annoying. I sometimes think Ford must have stolen the patent from Big Bend in London. Ford could afford to tone that down a bit.
