The rear seat is very comfortable and accommodating - it folds down and I could fit my fishing poles in it with all my camping gear, too. The harness in the back seat also made it very easy to put in and take out a rear facing car seat for my child. On the fishing/camping note, the car made it down gravel roads to the lake and back with ease - big wheel well and great suspension so it handled itself well.
