We've owned a 2000 Monte Carlo SS that's been in the family for over 20 years as of this year. There are many, many good things to say about this car, and very few bad things to say about this car. This car isn't the most modern car, with the most modern technology, nor the most modern or newer looking interior. This car doesn't have all the fancy gadgets and features that the new cars have, but this car has proven itself to be very, very reliable for our family. The car has been passed down many generations and has had very few problems except normal maintenance that needed to be done. The car has never had any "major" breakdowns, the car has never had any type of "major" issues and this car currently has over 300,000 miles on the odometer. That's a lot of miles with little problems, ... (more)
Story
Our Monte Carlo has been passed around from generation to generation, to even a third generation. The car was first my car, then was passed down to my daughter. My daughter recently purchased a new car and passed this car down to our niece. That makes three generations for this car! It's been in the family longer than many of our children!
Pros
The pro's to the 2000 Monte Carlo SS are by far the performance and reliability of the car. The car doesn't have a lot of "high-tech" gadgets, but the car does have reliability and good performance. The cars engine that isn't bad on gas, but isn't the best, however it's quite powerful, and contains all the power you could ever need or use in a daily driver car. The cars engine has proven us to be very reliable, with no major issues. The car idles smoother than any older car that I've ever seen this age or with this amount of miles. The car performs better than any car I've seen this old or... (more)
Cons
There aren't too many negative things I can say about the Monte Carlo, neither can anybody in my family. If I were to think of the few least liked things about the car, they would be that the car isn't advanced in technology for today's time and age. It's pretty much a basic car as far as looks, design, and interior go. The cars seats aren't the most comfortable. The interior isn't the nicest. The car could use a better stereo system and some updated dash features to enhance the "interior feel" of the car. The car needs some digital features on the dash board to give it a more "newer and m... (more)

Great Car All around! I didn't get it serviced regularly like I should, but she has held together nicely and performs great! I've owned this car for 10 years now and have never had any problems*knocks on wood*
Story
I lived in this vehicle for about 6 months. This wasn't just my transportation, this was my home. The thing about the Chevy Monte carlo was it was big enough to sleep in...how many 2 door cars can a 6'4 300lb man sleep in comfortably for 6 months? Not many! I slept in my work place parking lot and I caught the receptionist and the security guard having an affair one evening. I just sat there a... (more)
Pros
I like how smooth the ride is in this car. She has a pretty quick acceleration and I do like that a lot. Especially when entering on the freeway. She is easy to control, not loose or tight in anyway. She also has a large size trunk, for a 2 door car, I can fit A LOT in this trunk.
Cons
The only con for this car is it is a 2 door. My family is getting bigger and we three kids, one being a BIG teenager. It's getting crowded and need a bigger car. But that's not the cars problem, that's me. 2 door cars are meant for one or two folks. The car is great besides that.
