Comfortable and useful
I got 250,000 miles out of my last car (the same year and model) and hope to get the same out of this one. With regular maintenance this SUV works great as a highway and off-road driver. The interior is durable and meets my needs, as I like to haul firewood and other messy things in the back. I am not impressed with the rearview mirror. It relies entirely on electricity to activate a dimmer. I prefer the old fashioned lever to tilt the mirror. Also, the cruise control buttons have just about disintegrated. The buttons are made of some kind of wax material and they have softened/melted in the heat of the high desert where I live. One side of the cruise control console has recently broken away from the steering wheel. I have plenty of room to sleep in the back (along with my gear) when I car camp. Even though this car is 17 years old, and I still get about 19 mpg.

Not the best car
I like how it is good for long trips, but I do not like how things keep on breaking on it. The air conditioner does not work anymore, the engine makes weird noises, and there is a strong exhaust odor. I was overcharged for the vehicle, but it was all I could get before I moved out of state. The windshield is broken, and the brake light never turns off. Though the car doesn't overheat, the coolant gets used up pretty fast. There is no leak in the coolant. Even with all of the issues, it is still good for getting me to where I need to go. If it was in better condition, I would enjoy the car much more. The radio and speakers work well, although a speaker in the very back randomly works and stops working. There is a lot of room in the vehicle, and I feel as though it is safe for my family, which includes a dog and a three month old infant. The car is not worth what I had to pay for it, but it is reliable for now.

Great vehicle!
I love my Ford Explorer. It is now 16 years old and I did have to replace my engine, but only 4 years ago. It has a lot of room. It can hold 6 people or more. It has a huge trunk to store things in. This Explorer has taken me to many places. I have driven it camping, fishing, to the beach and many more places. It has been like a part of my family. My mother had it when I was a teenager and she passed it down to me. It was there when my niece was born. It has never failed us. It has so many memories. The original paint job has lasted me so long. It is top quality. And that was the factory paint job, too. I would recommend this vehicle to any age group. Whether it be a teenager's first vehicle, a couple having a new baby, or even for someone who is elderly. It has many capabilities. I have hauled trailers, four wheelers, a boat and even other vehicles with my Ford Explorer. I have never ran into a problem with this until my motor blew up. But that was a rather quick but expensive fix. I would definitely buy this type of vehicle in the future. But only when this one is no longer drivable. But I honestly don't see that happening anytime soon.
