2012 Ford Explorer OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

Reliable vehicle for family of 4
Vehicle was bought used with minimal mileage. Vehicle does not have tow package but I have installed an aftermarket hitch which allows me to tow a utility trailer. The vehicle handles great with trailer loaded and unloaded. Engine does not overheat or bog down with loaded trailer. The interior has leather which is great for the dog and easy clean up with the kids. The third row seating is great when grandparents or friends come along, but difficult to enter since we have on both outside middle seats a booster and car seat for toddler. Engine and transmission has been great, exterior does dent easily and side moldings have gotten scratch easily. The interior leather and carpet looks great even when not detailed. The available room when the third row seating allows us to load up everything we need to vacation.

Great Family SUV
This vehicle is big enough for a family of 6 and their luggage while having the car feel that makes this enjoyable to be an everyday driver! I really enjoy driving this Explorer and I am very impressed with the quality of the Ford product. So impressed that I bought my daughter a Focus.

Not the best but not the worst
It is a decently priced midsize SUV. It can hold all of my children when the third-row seat is up and is very spacious in the back when the third-row seats are folded. It looks nice, has an easily accessible roof rack. It tows well. I have hooked up several different kinds of trailers, and it pulls just fine. I wish the pedals moved for better adjustment. The way the seat and the pedals align makes my legs and hips hurt. The cup holders are okay, and there are plenty of jacks to plug in mobile devices. The gas mileage could be better it doesn't get what it says it should. I have had to put a good bit of work into it. For instance, the water pump broke, and even though the part was very cheap, it cost a fortune to replace because of where it was positioned in the car and took a lot of labor hours to fix it. Mine doesn't have the sun roofs that a lot of them come with, I wish it did, but I talked to another owner who had them and she told me to be glad I didn't because they have been known to leak. I can't get my phone to hook up to the Bluetooth in the radio. Even though it acts like its connected, it won't play music, so that's frustrating. It still has an axillary port, but who wants all those wires in a wireless world?
