2003 Ford Superduty / F-250 7.3L
I love this truck. I hate this truck. I love it because the engine seems like it will last forever. We have not modified this truck, only made repairs to it over the years as they were needed. The 2003 model year was the last year for the PowerStroke 7.3 liter diesel engine and it is not as complex as modern diesel engines. As long as the engine is maintained, I don't see any reason why it will not outlast any of our other vehicles. I hate this truck because it constantly needs 'something'. We have recently begun to experience electronics gremlins and problems with our suspension. I imagine with these repaired, this truck will easily last another 200,000 miles, however. The body / cabin of the Ford Superduty line has essentially remained unchanged since the 1999 model year. The cab itself as well as the truck bed are both direct bolt-ons from 1999 to 2016. This means there are plenty of parts out there in the wild from which you can obtain replacements (or aesthetic updates, if you're into that). We plan to make repairs to our truck as things wear out and keep it until the wheels fall off.

Gas guzzler.
This Ford 250 Super Duty is highly useful for towing a three horse slant trailer readily. It is so powerful that it seems like the trailer, loaded with three horses is not even being towed. It is necessary to be mindful of its speed but that is good because it handles and maneuvers fairly well so can quickly move out of any tight spot. It does not lose power going uphill either. The interior is well designed. The dashboard displays are ready to read. The heating and AC systems work really well, in fact, the A/C can freeze you out. The seats are adjustable to the driver’s needs so it is comfortable to drive. It is really easy to shift it into four wheel drive but you do have to go out of the vehicle to turn the wheel locks. However, when in four wheel drive it is unlikely to get stuck in any mud. The long bed makes it very useful for hauling lumber or furniture. Overall, the vehicle is pleasing to the eye, with white paint, minimal chrome, and a black interior.
