I purchased this vehicle brand new from the dealership, and I could not be more pleased. The truck just crossed the 400K mile mark, and in all those miles, the only problem has been an A/C compressor that had to be replaced. The engine and entire drivetrain have performed consistently well and are as dependable today as they were the day I purchased the truck. This truck has been worked hard pulling heavy cattle and hay trailers and has never been short of the power needed to get the job done. This truck can when others can't and is stable and sure footed in all weather environments. An outstanding vehicle that has been an amazing value.
Story
I would never sell this truck even if it was not in great condition because this truck saved my life several years ago. I live in a very rural area of Louisiana and during Hurricane Gustov we were forecasted to receive four to five inches of the rain where we live well away from the coast. We ended up receiving just over 23 inches, and the water began rising quickly. I went to rescue my horses... (more)
Pros
The truck is at its best in the worst conditions and handles snow and ice well with predictable behavior and no surprises. I have hauled very heavy loads with this truck, and it has always provided the power needed to get the job done while remaining easy to drive. The four-wheel drive system is easy to operate and engages smoothly at the turn of a switch.
Cons
This truck is heavy on power and ability but is light on gas mileage. The 5.4 liter engine is no gas sipper with average mileage well below what is achieved in a smaller truck. If gas mileage is a key concern, this is not the vehicle for you. The suspension that provides amazing performance in snow and ice does come at a price, as the ride is very firm in this truck. You will feel each and every imperfection in the road you are traveling. The truck is comfortable, but the ride quality can make long trips seem like work.

I have enjoyed my truck for the last 11 years. The paint job has not lasted on it like I would have liked but the body is solid. I still have the original running boards on there and they look great. The air conditioning is ice cold and the diesel engine provides me with plenty of power. The seats are worn now as is the steering wheel, but no more than you would expect from a car or truck that is 11 years old. The engine is as good as the day I bought the truck. The back seats, which do not get as much use, have held up fine. I did recently have to replace the high pressure oil pump but that was the first major repair in 11 years. I take this truck every year on a fishing trip and it performs adequately and provides us comfort to travel in. Even if you throw 6 grown adults in ... (more)
Story
I think the funniest memory is buying the truck out of town and driving it back into town. You have to pass through a narrow road and I went from driving a mustang to driving this huge F250 diesel. I was so worried about not being able to fit in my lane.
Pros
The biggest pro I would have to say is the air conditioning. I don't know if it's the diesel engine but the air is so much colder than in any other vehicle I owned. And I love how spacious the truck is. A grown adult can sit in the back seat and be very comfortable even if the person in the front has their chair moved all the way back. The truck seats 6 people and even with a full truck load the air conditioning cools of the cab. The clearance on the vehicle has always been adequate for my needs as we go camping and fishing in the truck. I have never modified it so it came straight f... (more)
Cons
When the truck was only a couple years old I had an oil leak where they had to remove the engine to fix it. I've had a seal replaced twice that has caused a gas leak. I recently had to replace the high pressure oil pump which was pricey.
