Pros

  • Attractive redesigned exterior features on the hood, grille and fenders
  • Comfortable front seats
  • Loud, proud V8 engine
  • The new 12-inch instrument cluster is well-designed
  • Cons

  • Poorly tuned 10-speed automatic transmission
  • Cramped rear seats
  • Electric power steering system lacks directness
  • Options get expensive quickly

  • Key Takeaways

An updated exterior and a powerful (and optional) V8 engine on the 2018 Mustang are a big hit with reviewers. They're also fans of the comfortable front seats, but less impressed with the cramped rear seating. The 10-speed automatic transmission sometimes fumbles during transitions, but the six-speed manual transmission option is popular and effective. With its bold styling, large and practical digital instrument cluster and range of available trims, this classic car is even better than before.

My favorite thing about my Mustang is the fact that it is a convertible. It takes no time at all to drop the top. Just twist the lever that locks it and hold a button for about 15 seconds. It's quick and quiet. The Mustang has speed and beauty. I love the new taillights on this model compared to the older models. The model I bought comes with the performance package and the premium package. My favorite feature of the premium package is you can change the interior light colors in the car. This Mustang has all the best features you could want in a sports car.
    Story
Me and my husband dropped the top one night and went on a drive through some back roads and enjoyed the view of the stars.
    Pros
The Mustang was built to perform. It is sleek and beautiful. It is a six-speed manual, and when you give it gas, it goes. It has over 300 horsepower and you can feel every bit. It's not just the performance and beauty of the Mustang I love. I have two children who are both still in car seats, and I am able to fit both of them comfortably in the backseat.
    Cons
Fuel usage would be the biggest negative about the Mustang GT. It says it gets 21 MPG but it seems closer to 15 MPG so I feel like I am constantly fueling it. Another negative about the Mustang is that it is rear-wheel drive and not all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive vehicles have a much better drive feel and they seem more stable. It is very easy to "fish tail" the Mustang in wet conditions, and forget about driving in the snow.

I love this Mustang, although I thought I would not so much as I like the classic older cars. But the look of this is very cool, and the drive is very smooth. Lots of great features. I'm happy with it.
    Story
Fun the time I finally let my Dad drive it on the road home from a trip to Vegas. I was tired and hung over, or I wouldn't have let him drive it, it's still too new to share. But his face when he was driving and the fun he had was good to watch.
    Pros
Sleek look, lots of good features, love some of the delightful extras like the pony hologram on the ground when you click the key. Drives very smoothly but I like the kind of grrrr sound it makes, if that makes any sense, feels powerful. Good connection features, great navigation panel and GPS. Fun color choices, nice interior. Like the touch features, the old Mustang was 1991 and didn't have any of these features.
    Cons
I miss the convertible top I had in the old Mustang, and the back seat is not extremely spacious. I had thought about e cars or hybrid, but didn't make that choice - it probably would have been more economical. I play baseball and run a tournament team - there really isn't a lot of trunk space for all the gear I have to haul, so usually use a different vehicle when traveling to games.
