2017 Chevrolet Volt -
This is my second Volt. I owned 4 Prius vehicles prior to my first volt. I traded my Prius for the premiere 2012 Gen1 and loved the car, but having owned the 2017 premier Volt for 2 months, I'm blown away with the greatly improved Gen2. I just fill my gas tank after driving 2027 miles. The electric range is greatly improved and routinely get far better than the rated 53 mpg by GM. Since its only my wife and I, the back seat is never used, so the 5th seat doesn't matter to us. The 2 rear bucket seats are great for the grandkids with the center 5th seat excellent for a child seat. The Gen2 premier is packed full of electronics and safety features. I have the comfort package 1 and 2, ambient lighting that my wife just loves and the radio/nav package. The Apple CarPlay is also a very nice ... (more)
Story
Few months back we went to a long trip as a family to enjoy the weekend. That was the recent most memorable event.
Pros
Fuel economy. Handling. Quietness.
Cons
Reliability. Driving position. Workmanship.
2017 Chevrolet Volt - Fantastic commuter car
The ride quality is great. I have 62,000 miles on it so far and have only needed one oil change. There was an issue with a body panel being misaligned; however, it was fixed by the dealership under warranty. It is extremely fuel efficient and quiet, and I can go weeks between fill ups so the cost of gas is never a concern. For someone who can charge at work or has a round trip of around 30-40 miles, they will likely never need to purchase gas. Of course, with the very infrequent oil changes, you must remember to set appointments to rotate your tires.
Story
I routinely sneak up on people in parking lots, which can obviously be problematic.
Pros
The car is extremely fuel efficient, to the point of almost never needing to purchase gasoline. The Android Auto integration works really well with newer phones, and pretty much every popular music app works with it. The hatch back trunk with fold down seats makes for a considerable amount of cargo space even in such a small car.
Cons
The keyless start acts up occasionally and will not detect the remote until you place it in the center console. It appears to be more of an issue with rolling codes than anything. The middle rear seat is next to useless as the tunnel for the battery pack goes straight down the center of the car.
