The 2002 Chevy Avalanche is a great truck. I have had it for a long time and have used it for multiple purposes, including moving furniture to towing a boat and have enjoyed every moment. A dependable and reliable truck without any problems over time.
Story
I went to South Padre Island for a trip, and we all sat in the bed of the truck and looked at the stars on the beach sand at night. Very cool times with family.
Pros
The top positive things about this vehicle would be the low gas mileage for a truck, the comfortable ride for a truck, and being able to tow or load up whatever I needed without worrying if the truck could or could not handle it. The truck also has the back panel lay down, so I would be able to load large pieces of wood like fencing in the back, and the length could max out at around seven feet without hanging out of the truck but safely being laid down in the bed of the truck.
Cons
The top negative things about this vehicle would be the headlights were not as bright as I would like them to be. Especially being in the country, lighting is a must. The factory lighting probably would suffice in the city but the country was a different story. Having to turn on the brights helped, but I would have liked to have had a brighter factory system. Otherwise a great truck.

This vehicle has performed wonderfully for me. I bought it to replace an older extended cab pickup truck and needed the backseat room for my three growing boys. It has plenty of room (as well as heated leather seats and all of the available other options), as well as the ability to haul lumber and other objects. If the bed is folded down, you can comfortably carry full-size (8' long) lumber, plywood, or drywall. My only complaint about it is the 'body cladding' plastic all around the truck. Michigan (where I live) uses salt on the roads in the winter, and the truck is rusting underneath all of the plastic panels. The large plastic bins at the top of the bed have been very useful, just not the cladding around the rest of the vehicle.
Story
I have used it to ride trails near me, and while it is longer than most ATVs or Jeeps, it did handle it just fine.
Pros
I love the flexibility of the truck. The folding mid gate and tons of room and storage are wonderful.
Cons
The truck is rusting underneath the plastic body cladding, and the running boards were causing rust at the rocker panels (I removed the running boards as soon as I noticed this). The rust also has damaged the small winch that holds up the spare tire under the rear of the bed (a typical thing in Michigan - not specific to this vehicle).
