Good truck with some drawbacks.
I have owned a 2005 Chevy Avalanche for about 3 years now. It is a good solid vehicle with a lot to offer. The in-bed tool boxes are very handy for storing tools and equipment. However they do drastically cut down on the space in the bed which is unfortunate. The back seats fold out which is handy when moving or hauling cargo in the cab. The biggest drawbacks I have found are fuel economy and power. I typically get about 10-12 miles to the gallon in the city which is not ideal. On the highway I get up to 18. I also own the rear-wheel drive model as opposed to the four-wheel drive. This helps on gas I know but can make towing through the mountains (I live in Colorado) difficult and, on occasion, nerve-wrecking. On the whole this is a reliable light duty truck with plenty of passenger room and a decent amount of cargo space. I have had no mechanical issues since I have own the vehicle so it is reliable even for its age. I have done my own maintenance and nearly everything is easy to access and work with. This is a great vehicle for driving and light hauling but not if you're looking for a heavy duty truck.

A decent family vehicle.
I enjoy the fact that it is a smooth ride with plenty of room. There is a decent size backseat which fits my children's carseats with ease. The steering is great and the towing package allows for extra power when we need to move things from place to place. The only downside to having this vehicle is that it does get expensive when driving long distances. Driving around town is not really bad but the forty-four miles to and from work gets expensive for a low budget family.
