I bought my truck because it was an older truck with the 300 inline 6 cyl engine, which is one of the best engines Ford ever made. It's very unusual for owners to have trouble with these trucks, but alas, I have had one issue after another. It all began when I bought it knowing the exhaust needed work and the parking brake cable was broken. I had a mechanic replace it and drove "Lisa" quite a lot, probably 15,000 miles. The real trouble began when I moved a friend several hundred miles to a new state. Going down I had no issues, got her settled in nicely, but on a run to get some of her stuff from a friend I blew the top radiator hose. That was an easy fix, but from there the problems multiplied. Bad thermostat made it overheat, then I had a clog in the radiator. then I replaced the br... (more)
Story
It was a TON of fun to take down to the lake when it was low. the 4wd is very powerful and the low gear can crawl out of anything!!!
Pros
Awesome engine, will haul anything anywhere. Long bed let me haul a ton of stuff at a time. the 4wd worked amazingly well and got me out of some very sticky situations. the small cab means the heat and AC work very fast ;-)
Cons
I think I got a lemon... I had numerous issues that I didn't have the skill to repair myself. The single cab is uncomfortable for more than 2 people and there's no room to store anything else you may need to carry out of the weather.

I like the how sturdy the vehicle is. I haven't had many problems. I feel safe in it. And I feel safe when I have my kid in it. It's been great when I needed to haul things. And it's been very reliable. I would recommend this truck to everyone. It's older, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I've had a few offers for my truck, and I've always turned them down. If I do get rid of this truck, it will be for one that is identical.
Story
Moving us into our first real home was very memorable. We took trip after trip in this truck. It was reliable through it all.
Pros
It's always been very reliable. It's a comfortable truck, and it is very roomy. Hauling stuff is not usually an issue. When I need parts, they're usually not hard to find or very expensive either. Older trucks are always more sturdy. If I was in an accident, it's more likely that my truck will have less damage than the other guy due to the way newer cars are made. It handles very well in all weather. It has 200,000 miles and still runs great.
Cons
It needs parts to be replaced often. It is sometimes difficult to change the parts. Due to the age, some parts are basically fused on and takes a lot of effort to get off. And of course, having a truck means everyone asks for help moving! The radio is also one thing that quit working on me. And gas mileage was not favorable.
