1995 Ford F-150 - Can't make it quit!
When I bought my truck at the police auction, I admit I was slightly concerned that it already had well over 200k miles on it. That was well over a year ago, and I can't make this truck quit! Sadly, like I said, it was from the police auction. The police had it because it had been stolen by a criminal and later recovered by the police. That criminal who stole it took everything out of the truck he thought had any sort of value including the radio, catalytic converter, and the dome light. Yes, even the dome light. Lacking these things, however, just made it that much easier to get a good price for it at the auction. I paid only $1000, but I have easily gotten my money's worth out of it. It runs great, it has lots of power, and it even sounds like it has attitude. My only complaint is that I don't get more time with it to do some of the essentials like give it the paint job it so desperately is beginning to need. The gas mileage also happens to leave a bit to wish for, but I live on top of a large, steep hill in a snowy climate and without this truck, I have a whole bunch of hiking to do every time the snow flies. The truck is definitely fun to drive as the muffler has yet to be reattached, and every time I step on the gas, it roars and other drivers get out of the way like I pinched them. Overall, even though it now is nearing the 300k mile mark, it still performs great. The brakes are in great condition, it can handle turning around in my fairly small driveway with relative ease, and the acceleration is a thing of beauty. This is easily one of the best vehicles I have ever bought.

Unfortunately, the lady behind her was not quite so careful. My wife saw a couple cars ahead that were stopped for some wildlife crossing the road, so she slowly brought the truck to a stop, but the lady behind her wasn't paying attention. My wife and children felt a slight bump from behind when the other vehicle hit the truck. When my wife got out to inspect the damage, my truck's taillight was busted, but the other lady's car was nearly ripped in half. There was a giant "V" where the solid steel bumper of my truck had impaled itself into the radiator of the other vehicle. I find it funny that there was so little damage to my vehicle, but so much on hers. One of Karma's little benefits, I presume.
Many positives about this vehicle, the acceleration blows me away when I need it to. The cruise control actually works. I have actually had really terrible luck with newer cars in this respect. My other vehicle was made in 2008, and the cruise control has never really worked at all. But this truck can still do it all the time for hours on end. The four wheel drive still works too. Without the four wheel drive, I could never make it home on snowy nights after work. A quarter mile at a 45 degree incline is no fun on foot, but no problem in my F-150.

Obviously, being a half-ton pickup truck built in the mid-90's, when gas was still less than a dollar per gallon, the mileage leaves something to be desired. 13 miles per gallon is really sad when considering that I rarely drive in stop and go traffic. Most vehicles get a 20% boost or better when driven only on the highway, if the same is true for my Ford, it only got around 10 MPG in the city. It didn't come with a spare tire, so I am slightly concerned that I might one day run over a nail, blow a tire, and be truly stuck in the middle of nowhere without any cell service.

1995 Ford F-150 - Solid truck.
The 4.9 F-150 is one of the best trucks ever produced. It is a working mans truck that does not let you down. Everything on this truck was built to be a work horse. It is solid. The straight six-cylinder engine will outlast the body. It has the torque to pull down a house and keep going. The frame is solid and so is the body. The body is nothing to look at, but it does its job. You will have fun picking your gears in this truck. It isn't the most cozy cab, but it is not meant for that. It is meant to get the job done, and it does. No, you do not need four-wheel drive. Learn how to use this and you have made yourself one deal. The fuel economy is not the best. This is why it has two tanks. It's simple and solid.

Driving to Montreal. On my way to Montreal, I made sure that the tank was full and so was the oil. Only having one tank, I replaced the fuel filter. I also threw a new air filter in. After leaving the house, I was soon on the highway. It took about 30 min until the speed limit rose to 70 from 55. This was the first time that I realized this work truck liked to travel at 85 mph. Wow! Was that fun! I let her fly and away we went! Stopping every hour and a half, I had two offers on it by the time I got there. It never missed a beat.
Simplicity. Strength and endurance.

It uses fuel and is not a glamorous vehicle to look at or drive.
