1993 Ford F-150 - Beautiful, Boxy, and Bold
I would much rather have a truck than car, and older is better. I like how boxy and quaint it is. The engine still purrs, but the gas pedal is a little hard to press down on. It runs great, though I put a lot of work into it. I also repainted it myself to almost the exact red it was before, rust made me have no choice. But now it looks great and sounds great. The second gas tank is awesome especially living in the sticks. The transmission seems to be going, but otherwise good. I've had to replace the radiator, and it seems to guzzle oil. But I wouldn't ask for any other vehicle, my truck is my baby! The tires are brand new, and so are all the brakes. I need to rip out the interior, there are a couple holes, but I would like to wait until I find the right year in exceptional condition. ... (more)
Story
Since I've had this truck in my family forever, my favorite memories are riding in the back of the truck with tailgate down. The wind in my face, my sister by my side riding on dirt roads with my family to batsto Lake in hammonton, new jerse, lake, or wherever we were at. My dog would run in front of the truck leading the way, always making sure she wasn't going too far ahead.
Pros
The positive things about my Ford are that it is 23 years old, been in my family since the beginning, and it still runs wonderful. The dual gas tank is a huge plus, especially when gas goes really cheap, I can have extra gas before it goes back up again. I love how it drives smoothly to do this day. Making it a piece of my own work has really made me even more proud because it's a huge accomplishment for me, and I hope to keep it this way for a very long time and hopefully it will be worth everything I've put into it.
Cons
A couple negative things about this truck is the acceleration, I don't like how it doesn't go anywhere as soon as you press the gas, it's easy to press down at first, then gets harder and it makes you jolt up a little. Another thing I'm not exactly happy with is the radio, but that's such an easy fix. The only problem about that is though, is I would like a bigger radio space and I have to cut into the dashboard to be able to do such a thing like that. The last thing I don't like is the bench. It has a bunch of holes in it, the foam is falling out, and leather gets extremely hot on summer ... (more)
1993 Ford F-150 - I love Ford Trucks!
I love Fords, especially Ford Trucks. I think that Fords are built tougher and to last. I have driven over 17,000 miles on it and only fixed a few things like brakes, etc... It performs well. It drives well and it is sturdy. It is definitely practical. It is a straight 6, special made. I can move a lot of stuff in the bed and have helped friends move things many times. I love all the room the bed gives.
Story
I have taken it back-roading to the river with my friends. We would tail gate and drink sodas and eat snacks until the sun went down...
Pros
I think the style is like me, it is practical and plain jane. It is a brick red color with chrome trimming. It is comfortable, with soft cushioned seats.
Cons
I don't like how the seats do not adjust. This makes it hard to deal with when driving it, because if a short person drives they can hardly reach the pedals... I also do not like the dual tanks for gas. One of them works and the other does not. This is common in this brand of older truck.
