Overall, I am happy with my 2002 Ford F150 truck. It is the 4 door model and has plenty of room inside. The engine is a 4.6L and has plenty of power and seems to do decent on gas mileage. It is a lot better on the highway than just riding around town. I like the fact that the truck has disc brakes all around, it makes it so much easier to change. I would say that I would recommend this truck to anyone who is looking to buy a pickup.
Story
It was fun having a 4wd this winter because of the snows here in SW VA. My friends had a good time with me in my truck.
Pros
This truck has a lot of room. It has a full back seat that makes it so much more comfortable if I have to park on the side of the road to sleep. It is four wheel drive, that means that when going off road, camping, fishing, or whatever, I don't have any trouble getting there. I love the fact that this truck can hold 6 or 7 people with ease. It makes it so much easier to fill up with girls.
Cons
The Ford doesn't get great mileage around town. Also, maintenance is a little pricey too. It cost a pretty penny when its time to buy tires for the truck. Especially if I have to buy all four. Another thing I don't like is the automatic hubs. It would be so much better if it had manual hubs on the front of the truck. This would also help to save on gas. The oil filter is hard to get to also.

Even as a woman I enjoy driving trucks and so it was not a surprise to anyone that I purchased my F150xl. It is a great truck that I plan to drive until one of us gives up. I am thinking that with now over 265k miles on it and still running strong, it may be me that doesn't make it. Reliability is important to me and I have not had any major issues with my F150. It has taken me through Texas hot summers and icy winters with only minor and expected issues. Considering it’s age and the trials I have put it through, I am very happy with it. Probably the only things that I would correct would be some upgrades that I have done since purchasing it. I swapped out the plastic radiator for a metal one and places better shocks on it for improved rear traction. These were easily done and more for... (more)
Story
We have an annual Fourth of July event in our small town on the lake. Since the city doesn't supply music, my kids and I head on down to the edge of the water, turn on some patriotic music that we keep for just this occasion and set up lawn chairs to watch the fireworks. Others have learned to watch for the truck for some good music, great company and cold drinks. Ford and fireworks, good times.
Pros
While the model I purchased was minus many of the bells and whistles, it suited my purposes to a T and allows me to haul and tow to my hearts content. I love the simple but handsome interior, the hard working back end and the feeling that I have of independence that it gives me. I enjoy camping and the hiking so the all-wheel drive is handy in rough terrain when finding base camp, and the cargo area and extended cab leave plenty of space for all my necessities, plus a friend or two. The V6 engine gives me plenty of power, while still providing passable fuel economy.
Cons
The O2 sensors in this engine is placed in the middle and is hard to get at to clean. This only has to be done every 100k miles or so, so I'm guessing most people might never notice. It has come up a couple of times for me though. The plastic radiators tend to split at junction points so I replaced mine as I am a believer in metal parts. Otherwise I would say there are very few cons. Keep in mind this is from a high mileage vehicle.
