2006 Chevrolet Equinox - High-quality vehicle at a reasonable price.
I own a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. I love that it is roomy and has the space of a small SUV, yet it still maneuvers like a car. The exterior paint has remained very shiny and has not chipped when the car has been dinged in the 10+ years I have owned it. The interior is easy to care for and has held up well to two children. I have had very few parts need replaced, and the parts I have had to replace from regular wear and tear have been under $500. It has never broken down on the road, even after a fairly even mix of highway and city driving. I bought the vehicle used in 2008, so it was only two years old, and paid less than $10,000 for it. Overall, it has been an extremely reliable car. I feel like it still looks like a fairly "new" car, despite its age and the miles I have put on it. I wo... (more)

I would absolutely buy this make and model of vehicle again. It has over 115,000 miles on it, and the ride remains smooth. There is no noise when I drive -- a problem I have had with vehicles when they get past five or ten years old in the past -- and I feel extremely safe on the road when I am driving or riding in it.
My vehicle has taken us over railroad tracks, into the grass around our city lake, and has even been ridden in a parade! We've had a lot of fun in my vehicle!

The top positive about my 2006 Chevrolet Equinox is its reliability. I have had so few problems with this vehicle, I can hardly believe it. No major engine problems, and only minor issues with the wheel bearings and the brakes that were easily fixed by the dealer for less than $500. The exterior of the vehicle remains in new condition, in my opinion, despite its age. I have two children, and the backseat is more than enough space for them, their car seats, and anything they may take with them on a trip. It maneuvers well in both heavy traffic and on country highways. This vehicle was an ex... (more)

It is very difficult to argue with the level of reliability and the value we have gotten out of this vehicle. The gas mileage, despite it being a small SUV, is similar to that of a mid-size sedan. Not necessarily a fuel-efficient or hybrid sedan, but an average sedan from 2006. I recently replaced all four tires for less than $500, as well, which is another plus. Many of today's newer models cannot make that claim!
I would say the main negative of this vehicle, for our family, is the space inside. For myself and my two children, it is plenty of room, but when my husband drives or rides in my 2006 Chevrolet Equinox, he does struggle with the limited leg room. That being said, he is well over 6 feet tall, and this is not a problem common to the average consumer. My children are currently aged two and six, so, as they grow, I could see interior space being a problem as time goes on. For now, it is not a huge issue. Another negative is some of the cosmetic features of the interior have not held up well. For example, the covers have popped off some of the buttons, the plastic over the speedometer and gas gauge has cracked, and an interior door handle has cracked. These are not overly expensive to fix, but it can get slightly annoying to have to replace them. If it is not a necessity, I do not necessarily always replace them, anyway, but it is still something that takes away from the overall appearance of the vehicle. Overall, it is hard to find things to complain about with this particular vehicle, as it has been extremely reliable in the years we have had it!
2006 Chevrolet Equinox - Comfortable and relaxing
The Equinox that I purchased was used. It was still in somewhat good condition. For starters, the gentleman that I bought it from was the sweetest with helping me chose a vehicle. He gave me scenarios on where this car could take me. I love how spacious the Equinox is. I can fold both sides or just the back seat for hauling things. Well, the only flaw that I have about it is that when I go over 30 MPH, there's a clicking sound. When I push on the brake, it does not make a sound. I have purchased three of these vehicles. One for my eldest son and one for my husband. They all have the same noise. But overall, I love this car and so does the rest of my family.

One year, my husband decided to go fishing, so we hauled the boat to the dock. I let him go and park it. Well, after spending the afternoon out on the water, we decided to call it a day and go back. We came back to a goat sitting on top of my car, asleep in the shade. It was so cute.

With all honesty, I love this car. I have been able to rely on it when I have to go out of town for meetings. I think it's just about the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned, especially since my husband and I love to travel between the three different Americas. I am able to save money on the fact that the car does not waste a lot of gas, which was one of my biggest concerns. The car I previously owned was a gas-gurgling car because it didn't last long. I'd blink and the gas was gone. It has a very spacious back, which I love because my husband and I travel a lot. There's enough room... (more)

Plus, if we wanted to bring back stuff, there is even more room. Overall, I'd give this car a nine out of ten. Yes, I'd buy it again. My husband and daughter have one. I just love mine. Of course we all have different colors: matte black, plum and burnt orange.
Every time I go over 30 MPH and have to press on my brake petal, I hear a loud clicking noise.
