Overall, my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox has performed well over the seven years of ownership. It has been very reliable and has not broken down over 100,000 miles. The thing that I like the most about the Equinox is the space and convenience it offers. The automated lift gate has helped me out when I have my hands full, and the rear-view camera has saved me from bumping fenders with close parallel parking jobs. The one downside has been the constant flood of recalls and service agreements. It is nice of Chevrolet to replace the parts, but you wish it would have been made right in the first place. I've already been a part of five service agreements/recalls.
Story
I use the Equinox to help my daughter get to sleep, so I have lots of fun memories of driving her all around town to get her to sleep. It is like family bonding time.
Pros
I really enjoy the space it offers. The automatic rear door has been a life saver as a parent with a young child. It is also a very flexible vehicle, can seat five people, or haul a decent amount of cargo with the rear seats down. I once fit an entire loveseat in the back, with the rear seats down. The car also performs very well on the highway and gets pretty good gas mileage. It has survived many trips to and from Chicago. The rear-view camera has been a real lifesaver as well in the ferocious Chicago parking environment. The lack of any major repair expenses has also been a plus with th... (more)
Cons
I would say that the main negative about the Equinox has been the continued service agreement and recalls. I have already taken the car in for four service recalls, which can get annoying after a while. I respect Chevrolet for doing the recalls, I know some other companies do not. I would prefer fewer recalls and a better product. Overall, I have had a fuel pump replaced, an engine sensor replaced (which left my car in the shop for a full week) and two other minor repairs. One other minor complaint is that the door panels can block views especially for a tall person like me.

The Chevy Equinox was the first vehicle that was not a van that we purchased. A lot of thought went into the change. We wanted a smaller vehicle that was easier to park and handle and that offered better gas mileage. On the other hand, did not want to give up the comfort of having plenty of room for carrying things, and people. This car met all of our criteria. It is stylish, a modern look we are proud to drive. It has all of the technical upgrades we need, CD player, on-star and blue tooth. The dashboard is attractive with good lighting and easy to read signals and information. Cruise control, phone, and music are located on the steering and easy to use without taking your eyes off the road. MOST IMPORTANT lots of leg room for front and back seat passengers. Also easy fold down rear s... (more)
Story
Live in small rural area, our large city is less than 13,000 people. After we purchased this car (off the show room floor) other customers wanted to see and drive an Equinox. There were no other ones in at that time, so the dealer asked if we could bring our car in and let customers see and drive it until they could get another one in.
Pros
Favorite things have to be comfort, plenty of leg room for all passengers. Also love the ease of lowering the back seats for storage. The car is easy to handle. Travel a lot, so gas mileage has proven to be a big money saver.
Cons
Gave up space for passengers, only five will fit comfortable. Also the space at the sides of the windshields are a little wide. Would prefer more visibility out of the front as to side vision.
