2008 Chevrolet Equinox - Get anything but this.
We had nothing but problems with this vehicle. We bought it used. When we test drove it, we could tell that there was a coolant leak: the whole cabin smelled sickly sweet of burn-off coolant. We negotiated the price down relative to this. The build quality on the interior was ok -- your standard Chevy options. But the thing ran like a literal first test vehicle ever made. It guzzled gas, ran rich with oil, we could never get the coolant leak under control. It male all sorts of clicks and rattles. Then it started slipping gears. I've never had an automatic vehicle that slipped gears before. You would be going fine, doing 30mph on a clear side road, stop at a atop light and then have no throttle after the light turned. Randomly and without warning. On top of the numerous mechanical issue... (more)

Randomly and without warning. On top of the numerous mechanical issues, the turning radius was awful. I can turn my 2005 Silverado with more ease than this clunker. I have read that the engine in the other Equinox' were different -- better, more streamlined, less issues. But I will never try them. For me, the Equinox was a dead no.
I owned a cleaning business, and this car was my first purchase with that money. It was nice to roll up to clients houses in Baltimore my "new shiny Chevy." It certainly looked nice.

The size was perfect. We could easily fit two car seats, groceries, diaper bag and two adults. When I owned it, I operated a cleaning business. I stored all of my cleaning supplies in the back seat and the trash in the cargo area. The seats were comfortable and the interior was nice. Overall, I like the space a Chevy interior provides. It was also easy to maintain the interior because everything was removable and could be wiped down. It was also easy to maintain the interior because everything was removable and could be wiped down. The body was sturdy -- we actually got rear ended twice while owning it, and we walked away unharmed. The crashes also didn't damage the alignment. It also has a low clearance. That made it easy to get in and out. It handled ok in the snow and rain. It looked smarter than a lot of cars in the same class. Chevys of that era had great smooth lines and stance. The tires were inexpensive to replace.
The main issue was the junk engine they put in it. It caused all the other issues. Coolant leaks. Gas usage that was super high for its class and size. Gears slipping. No real power. The sounds system was lack luster. There was terrible road noise. I'm guessing because the bottom of the vehicle was thinner, and I had standard tires on it. The turning radius was so awful you had to plan enough space for a small boat to get it into a parking spot. That was the most annoying everyday issue and a terrible design flaw.
