I like the older models of the equinox better than the newer because they are more roomy. It gets fairly decent gas mileage. It seems as if it is made of pretty flimsy material, the inside is clean basic but clean.
Story
Taking it up to see the waterfalls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Pros
It is a very roomy vehicle. Decent gas mileage.
Cons
Dents easily. Has had a lot of mechanical problems.

We purchased this vehicle new. It wasn't the high-end model, but we liked it. It is silver with grey interior. It is roomy, which was of great importance to us. Also, the back seat is very roomy and is a bench-type seat, which we also liked. It has a good amount of storage in the back and is easily accessible. Performance has been excellent. It has consistently gotten between 22 and 25 mpg on the highway. We've had no issues with the engine/power train. It has had regular oil changes from day one, which I believe is why it has lasted this long. We currently have 160,000 miles on it, much of which was city driving/commuting. Story
Moving across country in May. We hit a major snow storm in Utah in the mountains. We were able to help people out of the ditch using our vehicle. It has been very reliable, and I hope it stays that way for many years to come!
Pros
Space - interior is very roomy, both in front and back seats. Reliable - virtually no major repairs required in the 11 years we've owned it. I still like the design better than newer models.
Cons
It did not come with crossbars for the roof rack that was included. Makes no sense to me. Performance wise - we've had an issue with the dashboard. The temperature gauge went crazy and now does not work. The gas gauge did the same thing, but it is now working fine. We were told that we should replace the onboard computer at the cost of over $1,000. We chose not to. Also, the issue with the passenger window is disappointing.
