2009 Ford Escape - This is a great car and has given me no problems.
My Ford Escape has been a great car for me and my family. We have owned it for over three years and we have yet to have a problem with it. It runs smoothly, and has gotten us across the country twice with no glitches. The Escape feels like a smaller car on the inside, but has the same capabilities as a larger vehicle. The details of the exterior and interior are classic and simple. The car is very comfortable to drive and the six cylinder engine gives it great towing capabilities. This car is very spacious and can easily fit five people, and has plenty of room in the trunk. The seats fold down easily to create a large storage space. The only things that I dislike about this vehicle is that it can get dirty very quickly. The fabric seats do not hold up to any water (rain, spills, etc.).... (more)

I would not use this car for commuting or driving long distances all the time. Other than the seats and the gas mileage, this car is very reliable and is a great small family car.
My family has had to move across the country twice in the past couple of years and this car worked perfectly for the job. We had four of us in the car and we all comfortably fit. It also pulled a large trailer with no problems!

There are a lot of positive things about this car. First, I love the look of the car. It is not a small car, but it is also not a huge car. It does have a six cylinder engine, so I love the feel of the power behind this car. It drives very smoothly and is a very quite car. I am able to tow things behind this car easily. This car has great features on the exterior. I love the way the front of the car looks, as well as the back. I like that the trunk has two different ways of opening. I use the glass window opening for groceries, I also use it when I have a large item in the back that needs ... (more)

The interior is very simple but gives you the feeling that you are in a nicer luxury car. I love the size of this car. It is in between a small car and a SUV. It also has plenty of storage space in the back. The seats fold down very easily to give more room for storage. I was able to move across the country twice in this car and I was able to tow and store a ton of stuff in this vehicle. This car has 100,000 plus miles on it and has yet to give me any kind of problems. The stereo system is great and has a lot of cool features.
My least favorite thing about this car is the fabric seats. The second any water or fluid hits them, they turn this white color. When we first got the car it rained shortly after so we had these white marks all over our seats. We had our car detailed and the seats still did not look as good as when we first got it. I would recommend putting seat covers on the seats the minute you get the car. Another negative about this car is the gas mileage. It definitely does not have the best carbon footprint, and if you are looking for a more green car, then I would not recommend this one. If you are ... (more)

If you are going on long trips or you commute often, this car will not save you any money. Another negative thing about this car is you have to stay on top of your oil changes or a "need oil change" sign will show up in your dashboard and it won't go away until you get an oil change. So, if you want to know how many miles of gas you have left, you won't be able to look that up because the "need oil change" will not let anything else show.
2009 Ford Escape - Good first car
This car has been a dependable vehicle for a young adult. The interior is laid out well and has a nice design. The gas mileage is great for a car of its size. Also, the trunk has an excellent amount of space and was very useful in the multiple moves I made during my college years. It handles a hard driver very well and, in my opinion, felt very similar to driving a large golf cart. The vehicle began having mechanical issues at around 140,000 miles, which is not uncommon for vehicles. I had an issue with the transmission, which was due to a factory recall, and this was taken care of. Over time, the gas mileage went down slightly, and the pick up speed was slowed. Also, the integrity of the leather has been compromised over the years, but this is an issue I only have with the driver's se... (more)

If I could change one thing about my car, it would be to add air vents for the back seat.
Overall, I've put nearly 200,000 miles on this car in the past eight years. I will be looking to upgrade to a larger car with less miles soon, but I could not ask for a better first car. It has been very dependable, despite the many miles it has traveled.
There is no specific memory I've had with this car that I can put my finger on. Most of all, I remember all of the people I've gotten to visit at the end of long road trips in my car. I remember the day I got my driver's license and driving my car (on my own for the first time), despite my mom's wishes, to see my high school boyfriend. I remember the day I got my driver's license and driving my car (on my own for the first time), despite my mom's wishes, to see my high school boyfriend. I remember the freedom that I felt when I was able to make the hour-long drive to see my grandparents on my own. I spent many hours driving my car all across the South touring colleges. I knew I could depend on my car when I moved out of state for college and took many long car trips home in the first year of adjusting to living on my own. I remember always offering to be the designated driver because I loved driving my car so much. And now, I know I can depend on my car to get me to and from clinical rotations all over the South now that I'm in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program.
Minimal blind spots. Good gas mileage. Spacious interior. Large trunk space. Affordable. Many windshield wiper speed options. Size of the car.
